I fail to see what's wrong with it. It looks like a very good attempt at Russian vernacular architecture.

If you're trying to hide your good taste, you're trying too hard.

I don't see how it's any different to Saint Basil's Cathedral, a building which is equally as garish.

Let's say that St. Basil's Cathedral has a lot of color but still in the same tone. Same for the form it is mainly the bulb and capital. The problem of this building it, for me , is the profusion of vivid color and opposite and too full of different shape, rounded , picnic , square. Even the fact that all roof designs are never the same , large, small and medium diamond.

Perhaps. But these are two different buildings. So one has to appeal to you more than the other.

Cant see where this is a traditional building. Random ornamentation and Collums dont make a design traditional Hend Kandi. We discussed this more than once, but you dont seem to get it at all...

Gare do Oriente | Lisbon, Portugal

This train station is quite an interesting take on gothic architecture.

Even though it looks good at first sight, it has major problems. The ground floor should have been much higher for the given arch radius. If they were not allowed to do that, they could have narrowed down the radius of those arches. The window openings are so off. I understand the developer was aiming for a cut in budget with short ceiling heights but then they should have put more window openings and narrow down the each opening. (Small ***** doesn't look too small on a short guy).

In classical design, ceiling height of the first floor is higher than the rest of the floors except for the ground level. This is to make the building look more solid and to portray it as it gets from greater to tinier(ground to roof). When the ceiling height of the first floor is as the rest of the floors, the building seems like it is being pushed from the top. Also those balustrades don't help. If they couldn't put a meter of extra height to the first floor, they could have at least used some sort of see-through balustrades so that the floor wouldn't seem shorter than it actually is. The balconets on the third floor could have been placed on the second floor or not placed at all or placed on both floor if they raised the ceiling height on the first floor.

Despite that, it looks like a very impressive attempt at classical architecture. I doubt the untrained eye would see anything other than a very beautiful building.

I like this train station. I see it as an expression of raw, untamed emotion.

New villa in rich suburb of Stockholm. Finished 2012. While its not perfect its a good base to further develop from.
