Thanks for posting mate but all of those examples from Kiev are eyesores. Those are the kind of buildings that make a lot of people skeptical about the new classic/traditional styles. I really don't think this thread is the right place to post them.

Nothing against Kiev though. I love some of the real classics from there!

The "Good Bar" of Kyiv looks like some original building translocated from any midsized midwestern US city.
Very poor pic though (pixels!). Let's not forget about sources either.

This one's clearly the best from the recently posted Ukrainian examples:

I think this suits here - the residence of the Spanish ambassador in Skopje, Macedonia. Probably built somewhere in the last ten years.

Most of the Kiev examples look imho bad. Not only are they overdone and tacky but they also don't even culturally belong to Kyiv. They look like cheap copies from American, British or Central European buildings.

You're not wrong. They are pretty bad.

No, not all are. The Tudor style palace for example looked pretty authentic inside and out. I thought, that there might even be original spolia involved.

"New Crescent and Square" | Truro, Cornwall

Quote from website:

Quote:
The Truro Eastern District Centre includes a large new Cornish Food Centre, a Park & Ride scheme, and household waste recycling centre. But at the centre of the development is a development of 98 new homes and apartments, which will provide valuable and much-needed affordable housing to Truro.

The site is complex and highly sensitive, with long-distance views down a valley which falls away to the east. We have embraced this character and designed a gentle crescent which meets the countryside and forms a clear new edge to Truro. Behind this is a residential garden square with a central allotment garden surrounded by elegant two and three storey houses.

The architecture draws inspiration from the fine 18th century streets and buildings for which Truro is renowned and will be constructed in stone, painted stucco and with slate roofs.

I'm just tired of the artificially aged faux Mediterranean crap we get here in California. It is all over the place and most of it is terrible.
