Colegio Seminario San Carlos y San Marcelo | School | Trujillo - Peru | 2015

This was the first school in the city of Trujillo, founded in 1625 when Peru was a Spanish Colony. Through the years, it housed several notable characters of Peruvian history.

Sadly, due to lack of proper maintenance, its adobe and quincha structure (common in the coast of Peru) became very unstable. In 2001, its second floor collapsed causing the death of 4 students. In 2013, part of the remaining first floor collapsed too luckily without harming to anyone. Then the building was considered beyond salvation.

So, authorities decided to demolish everything except the school's chapel. A reconstruction was decided though with modern materials and some changes like a full second floor to accommodate more students. However, the original spatial structure defined by its 2 patios was preserved. It more a new building that recalls the original structure one than a proper reconstruction.

These reconstructions are very nice, but they belong there:
Historical Reconstructions that we love! (in Europe)

The thread at hand is for newly created classical/vernacular building designs, without ascertained precursors.

I don't know if you accept 1950s architecture (you have allowed Art Deco in the past) but here's Cabana Bay Beach at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. Nothing you see here existed before 2010.

Jeez. NOT in this thread:

- renovations
(of an existing classical building without any new classical-style extension or facade makeover)
- reconstructions
- postmodern or modernist buildings (like this 1950s revival in Orlando)

It really shouldn't be that hard to get (does anyone ever read the title and opening post, ffs?). Thank you!

I wouldn't really consider this traditional...

edit:
Lol, the whole thread became a dump after Hed Kandi left it.

Well, we can complain all we want. Let's just bring on more timeless architecture in the spirit of this thread.

How is this.

Loma House | Cuenca, Ecuador | 2013 | Architect: I. Quizhpe

I was going back and forth as to whether this is traditional enough. In the less ambiguous category:

Camposano Village | Coral Gables, FL, USA | 2001

Bermuda Village | Coral Gables, FL, USA | 2001

House | Watersound, FL | 2007

I don't think that Loma house is actually new, but a renovated old house

Like it always stood there since Spanish colonial times! Pastiche to the max of course, but of great quality. Nothing like a foam covered Disney castle, for instance.
