If you've ever flown KLM, you'll realize that these are hilarious. Blue-and-white houses are the signature tchotchke of that airline, and apparently someone built real life versions.

^ Pretty good attempt at Neo Art Nouveau (or Wagner-esque Vienna Secession) actually, I can't see major design flaws that'd bug me! Great.

These Turkish consulates are the off springs of that Islamic empire of the Seljuks/Persians. Turkey doesn't have much to do with the Seljuks except for a few decades of invasion however, our beloved Islamic dictator Erdogan loves anything Islamic and promotes it worldwide. He doesn't give a damn whether it is Turkish or not. It is good to him as long as it looks hard core Islamic.

Also the vernacular architecture in Bulgaria, Macedonia, Turkey, Bosnia etc are pretty much the same due to the same climate and same construction techniques. I am not even gonna mention that only 100 years ago, all of these countries were one single country.

You need to understand the fact that those "Balkan" or "Turkish" houses are vernacular timber houses. You cannot build large institutions with vernacular architecture. It is not durable and structurally almost impossible.

Those Turkish houses you just posted are from the Bosphorus strait in Istanbul and were in use as summer mansions for the Turkish aristocracy during the late Ottoman era. They have literally nothing to do with the Turkish consulates you previously have posted.

Now, let me show you what the late Ottoman era architecture looks like. You can still see the Middle Eastern orientalist soul but it is western in its core. These are real Ottoman buildings. These reflect the true soul of Turkish architecture along with the vernacular timber housing in outskirts of the city.

Some examples from Istanbul,

So the bottom line is, those embassies have nothing to do with Turkish or Balkan architecture and are being built that way because it looks more Islamic and our Islamic dictator loves it. However, even he can't change the history when the history is still standing in Turkey. Perhaps, those consulates would suit Iran or Saudi Arabia better.

I am glad they are helping Somalia though. People should just live the life and try to enjoy it instead of killing each other for the sake of imaginary another life.
These are hardly 'Turkish style' buildings. They are western influenced constructions and none of those buildings were designed by Turks per se. Please do not spread misinformation because the days of misrepresenting Turkey's heritage are over...by intellectual Turks themselves...

^ Completely agree! When I see some of the so called "modern architecture" I wonder what humanity did wrong to go from buildings like the Louvre or the British Museum to brutalism.
