Not very sound classical designs here. Breaking most of the tenets of classical architecture, such as balance and proportion. For one, look at those columns, way too thin and unbalanced, along with the pediment's form. These buildings aren't entirely bad, but still not up to high standards and bordering on Skopje 2014 tacky and ridiculous.

^ They are very tacky. In addition to failed proportions, details and massings, the materials look rather cheap. Shouldn't apply to this thread at all.

The mentioned post has been deleted. My intention was not to bother anyone. I actually do find the brown stone building on the left quite successful but overall, I agree it is extremely tacky. It just doesn't fit into a city with 8 thousand year of history. I would have preferred to see a well designed, innovative contemporary campus.

Many nice buildings in this thread. Pity that in Poland there is (almost?) no need for traditional architecture styles. What I heard is that it's not even taught (properly). Guess we reached our limit in this field already.

I don't think it's taught in many countries, unfortunately. Here in Spain I don't know of any university that specialises in traditional architecture. And what's worse, most architect's designs look to me as if they were made by the same person. They're all equally terrible.

New Grand Bohemian Hotel in Charleston, SC. Replaces ugly building and parking lot. Completed late 2015.

Like 40% of all projects here. No double standards please. At least it isn't postmodern, like so many other examples here. Even though it's far from perfect, I find it interesting because it shows the current state of traditional architecture.

Good to have you back!

Just out of curiosity, where do you find all these examples of new classical architecture?

Beautiful.

If only more British towns and cities would embrace classical architecture like Poundbury has. London and so many other British towns have been ruined by modernist architecture. It really is a tragedy and I will never understand why it was (and still is) allowed to happen.
