In this last one you can see the different ages of the cathedral in the lighter coloured recent work of the last 10-15 years on the left of the transept and the darker stonework done around 100 years ago on the right - note the central tower over the crossing is of recent age.
St. John's Cathedral was designed by the British architect, John Pearson who was also architect for Truro Cathedral in Cornwall, U.K. Though not as large, IMO the Brisbane Cathedral is by far the finer in design and certainly the best religious building in Australia.

Odd choice but upon doing some reading it seems that the choice of Collegiate Gothic is rooted in the movement's establishment in and association with various college campuses.

It's actually an homage to their world headquarters, 770 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn:



A Google Image Search for "770" will reveal that it or its copies take up much of the first page.

Anything with a width of 1200 px is alright too imho, but not more please.
