Djbowen, I am absolutely sure of your good intentions but the images you post have nothing to do with this thread, unfortunately. We seek for more quality than quantity with good proportions and high-end materials. Please take a look at Hed Kandi's posts in the previous 394 pages and make sure your images catch up with those in terms of quality.

Make sure to post same or similar sized photographs that show details in high definition.

I hope you don't get my words the wrong way. Just trying to help you and the others viewing the things you post. For example those Somalian buildings were built by Turkey and a few Turkish foundations such as the Red Crescent to help Somalia in certain ways. Those buildings are simply a bunch of concrete boxes where the Turkish doctors, teachers and military provide basic health, education and security to the Somalians. I don't think they have a place in this thread which focuses on quality and detail more than anything else.

Thank you for your contribution!

I've seen other buildings such as the Qatar embassy in exotic styles not be condemned, but since it's hed_kandi's thread I'll defer to him/her.

That kind of glass is not historically accurate with that style and the proportions of that thing are messed up.

The nation of Bhutan has strict nationwide architecture guidelines that mandate all new construction be in Bhutanese style:

Taj Hotel | Thimphu | 2008 (source: Hotel website)

I hope this is the sort of detail that belongs in this thread. Feedback appreciated.

A few more from the kingdom of Bhutan

Uma | Punakha | Hotel, date unknown

Uma | Paro | Hotel, date unknown

I'm mostly using third-party reviewer pix (Tripadvisor, etc) because Uma uses very large pictures on their website.

Here are the actual guidelines that the Bhutanese government uses to regulate new construction:

http://admin.theiguides.org/Media/Do...HITECTURE1.pdf

and the Green Building addendum:

http://www.gnhc.gov.bt/wp-content/up...s-MAY-2013.pdf

This is about as "modern" as is legally allowed in the kingdom (excluding some grandfathered buildings from the 50s and 60s - if you look on Street View, you can still see some in Gelephu and Phuentsholing)

Here are some examples of newer midrise construction (almost all from hotel bookings site hotel.bt or from the hotel's official website)

Boy do I love Thimphu midrises...a little Art Deco, a little Modernist, a little South Asian, a little East Asian, with some Tibetan spice!

On one level the idea is kind of offensive but I can't argue with the results.
