Why does it belong here?
It's just a statue which still keep being erected all over the world and many of them are not less "classical" (because sculpture is generally more conservative art than architecture). Of course, not all modern statues are so huge and atrocious but it doesn't make the style of this monument "traditional".

Nowadays in Colombia (South America) is not welcome -from the architectural point of view- to build new projects using anachronic styles.

Knowing that our local contemporary architecture is rooted in different styles of traditional architecture, the tendency is to do a re-interpretation (adapted to contemporary taste and uses) rather than to imitate them.

There are cities and towns (like Popayán, Cartagena, Villa de Leyva or Barichara) with protected architectural patrimony. In those cities new projects in historic areas need to adapt to heights, colors and materials of the old buildings, but without pretending to be old.

In that respect it is difficult to find contemporary neo-historical projects.

In this small display of examples I don't include modernism or deco, because local buildings in those styles were developed simultaneously to their countries of origin, and therefore can also be considered as belonging to the actual movement (not as later anachronisms).

The following examples of Neo-styles are more than 70 years old, when the tendency of copying styles was still in place:

Lourdes Church - Bogotá (Neo-Gothic)

"La Merced" neighborhood - Bogotá (Tudor)

Lodge by the Tequendama cascade (Italic)

San Bartolomé School - Bogotá (Neo-Classical)

Carmen Church - Bogotá (Italian Neo-Ghotic)

Logia ... - Bogotá (Neo-Classical)

Jockey Club - Bogotá (English Neo-Classical)

Echeverry Palace - Bogotá (French Neo-Classical)

San Francisco Palace - Bogotá (Neo-Classical)

Palacio de San Francisco - Avenida Jiménez (Calle 13), Bogotá by twiga_swala, on Flickr

Barranquilla (in this case it is an eclectic style, contemporary to other international examples. Big part of El Prado neighborhood in Barranquilla correspond to eclecticism)

Old Justice Palace - Medellín (Belgian Neo-Ghotic)

Old Government Palace of Antioquia - Medellín (Belgian Neo-Ghotic)

Municipal Theatre - Cali (Neo-Classical)

La Ermita - Cali (Neo-Ghotic)
