Art Moderne is basically art deco but with more linear curve emphasis, popular in the 30s. Even a mod here said that styles from before the 1940s are allowed.
From wikipedia:
"Streamline Moderne, or Art Moderne, was a late type of the Art Deco architecture and design that emerged in the 1930s. Its architectural style emphasized curving forms, long horizontal lines, and, sometimes, nautical elements."

Also, so many people in this sub section are so loaded with classicist dogma that they cringe at the word 'modern'. Grow up.

I don't think it's that bad. It's clearly inspired on the one on the right. A nice coat of paint on the former and one can't almost tell them apart.

For Kiev it's surprisingly modest. I like it.

There are people who dream with a world full of gray commieblocks everywhere, as long as they are tall skyscrapers, it's enough. That's the kind of architecture they want for their cities; anything with classical styles, or historicist features is considered fake.

But they don't take into account the fact that Neoclassical, Neogothic, Academic Architecture, etc; are all of them revivals, resembling past artistic movements.

There is no such thing as "fake architecture", but aesthetically appealing architecture. That's the way to go. Functionality is good, but there is nothing bad in developing beautiful-functional buildings.

The Abu Dhabi presidential palace looks magnificent. The aesthetic here seems similar to that of the Zayed Mosque - Mughal / Persian elements cross-pollinated with Arab ones - but if anything the vocabularly seems even more refined here than with the mosque.
