Sorry, but I should agree. Even City Hall of Yingquan (shown in this topic some time ago) is much better than this.

This object was positioned as a Putin Palace only in 2011, during the campaign for the election of the President of the Russian Federation. Later it became clear that it is private property of some oligarch from the Caucasus, nor subtracts good taste in the arts. To Putin this building has no relation. It was a pre-election PR campaign against Putin.

It seemed like the most 'official' name to give the project.

Well... Off the top of my head from Norway, all I can think of at the moment is Fantoft Stavkirke, a church that was burned down by arsonists, and then rebuilt as it was, in 1997. in Bergen, Norway.

It is known that in Wikipedia articles all who it wants, and it sometimes does not correspond to reality. So Wikipedia should not always be considered as official and truthful publications. For reference:

Summer residence of President of Russia in Sochi “Bocharov Ruchei”, Architects: M. Merzhanov, V. Shashkov, 1932-1934.

Holiday complex «Bocharov Ruchey» occupies 40 hectares. The main building of the vacation complex is built on a hill, offering wonderful views of the sea. After the collapse of the Soviet Union «Bocharov Ruchei» became the only Russian residence of the government on the Black sea and in 1991 acquired the status of the official residence of the President of Russia. Now the complex of the residence in addition to the first villas include: a summer residence for the Prime Minister of Russia, which stands opposite the sea.

_

Other state residences on Black sea, based by Russian emperors, remained in the Crimea, now in the territory of Ukraine.

It's in the Beltway, I believe in Maryland. It's called something with Potomac in the name, I think.

A few words about the modern Moscow Neoclassicism.

"Egg-House" on Mashkova street, 1, architect. S. Tkachenko, 2002-2004.

Architectural workshop of Sergey Tkachenko (LLC "Arc"):
End of 1998, the creative team of the architectural workshop of Sergey Tkachenko (S. Tkachenko- head, О. Dubrovsky, И. Voznesensky, А. Kononenko) marked the release of a series of unusual projects of apartment houses and office buildings. All of them anyway vary the shape of an egg.

The main volume of the residential complex represents a traditional Moscow residential building with apartments, stylistically similar to the profitable houses of the early 20th century and of the "Stalin" architecture 1930-50-ies.

A highlight was extension to the building, which was one of the highlights in the quiet lanes of old Moscow.

Building plan

Inside the "Egg-House" is stored in a separate apartment. Artist Maria Morozova painted this "egg" not outside, but inside.

@UnHavrais: Did you really have to full-quote all those images? People stop doing that, it's highly annoying. Thanks!

And dreadful architecture quite obviously, too... Pure kitsch.

How much did you have to pay there in comparison to Hanoi's average?

Btw, fabulous examples from Russia. The outskirt cottages are magnificent reminescences, I can't sense huge artistical failures there. Somehow it lacks something to be really as great as originals, though. Something original, perhaps.

But I loved that organic egg building. Now that's creative use of classic architecture principles! Cheers.
