Totally agree! In the U.S. I imagine as the elements and proportions are so correct. Great to see such quality work being done today, wish I could say the same for some of the other stuff on this site which is horrendous but at least there are some architects out there that know what they are doing.

From Scania, Sweden.

Caused a lot of debating when the project started. The style is not swedish, but inspired by pre-industrial town architecture found in the coastal region of the southern Baltic and the North Sea, of which the old Hansa City of Lübeck is the best known example.
The city has been criticised by architects as a pastiche of a medieval town.

Well designed traditional and classical buildings are not pastiche. This word becomes meaningless in the mouth of some intolerant zealots. For me it's usually like falling afoul of Godwin's law invoking the "nazi analogy", in the absence of any solid argument. I for one find this town beautiful.

I find that remark unnecessary, and wrong.

A pastiche is a work of visual art, literature, or music that imitates the style or character of the work of one or more other artists. Pastiche celebrates, rather than mocks, the work it imitates.

Someone has asked me about more info about it. It is called Jakriborg, lots on the net

I for one thinks Jakriborg is bordering Disneyland. It's a bit illogical since I can't precisely define it myself. If someone would, say, build a residential village in Migration period-style architecture I'd definitely call it Disneyland. My main issue is that Jakriborg as a village didn't exist until a couple of years ago, it's just an imitation of something else.

That said, I think it's great that more people-centered urban planning is gaining acceptance and growing in popularity.

THAT! ^ Is amazing!
It has that old feeling, because of the brickwork and the stones, but it has a weird configuration and everything looks so well proportioned! It looks amazing!
