Lots of incredible photos in here. Hard to pick any favorites but Moscow, Glasgow, Istanbul U, Oxford and Cambridge...

And you just have to respect Mexico City for its audacity.

University of Oslo - Norway

This is the old empire style university building, located smack in the middle of Oslo. Today it houses the law and criminology students and is generally considered as the "facade" of the university.

Almost all the other departments are located at a place called Blindern - a large campus a bit further northwest in the city. Among Norwegians, Blindern is a sort of a second name for the university. Blindern, mostly built in the 60s, has a rather unwelcoming commie-style architecture, but in its defense the students have done a lot to give it a personality. For example, almost every building has a club or bar in its basement, run by the students. Although I mostly hate commie architecture, I still enjoy hanging out at Blindern. The campus is usually full of life, with demonstrations, stands and so forth. It has its own culture and a very european university-feel to it.

This is the relatively new university library, finished in 1999.

And this is the new computer science building. Not sure what I think about it, but it has won one or two prizes.

Oslo University College - Norway

So this is like the second big place to get an education in Oslo, although not as large as the university.

The college is located downtown in what used to be brewery. So most of it has a nice old brick facade.

Here you can se the contrast between parts of the old brewery and a newer building.

The college is focused on educating you for a profession, like engineering, journalism, teaching and such, and every student will spend part of his education at a relevant workplace. Some countries make a huge distinction between universities and colleges, but in Norway they are considered quite equal, just with different styles.

In a few years, this college will apply for an official status as a university. A lot of exchange students don't want to go to a school which doesn't have the all-important university status, and having a lot of exchange students means more prestige.

Oslo Business School - Norway

Finally I will present the business school in Oslo. In my opinion, they have the most inviting architecture of the schools and universities in Oslo, since they moved in to a new building in 2005. Its drawn by Norwegian architect Niels Torp, who also made the design for Oslo airport and the British Airways HQ. This is a private school and you have to pay some money to study here, unlike to two previous institutions I presented, that are state financed.

Yippie, my first post on this great website.

"The University of Bonn (German: Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn) is a public research university located in Bonn, Germany. Founded in its present form in 1818, as the linear successor of earlier academic institutions, the University of Bonn is today one of the leading universities in Germany. The University of Bonn offers a large number of undergraduate and graduate programs in a range of subjects. Its library holds more than two million volumes. The University of Bonn has 525 professors and 27,800 students. Among its notable alumni and faculty are seven Nobel Laureates, two Fields Medalists, twelve Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize winners, Pope Benedict XVI, Heinrich Heine, Karl Marx, Friedrich Nietzsche and Joseph Schumpeter. In the years 2010 and 2011, the Times Higher Education ranked the University of Bonn as one of the 200 best universities in the world. [...]"

Seal of the university:

Logo of the university:

It's my favourite university here in Germany in one of my favourite cities.
I hope i'll begin my studies there this year, in winter.

The seven schools are:
-School of Catholic Theology (German: 'Katholisch-Theologische Fakultät')
-School of Protestant Theology (German: 'Evangelisch-Theologische Fakultät')
-School of Law and Economics (German: 'Rechts- und Staatswissenschaftliche Fakultät')
-School of Medicine (German: 'Medizinische Fakultät')
-School of Humanities (German: 'Philosophische Fakultät')
-School of Mathematics and Science (German: 'Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftliche Fakultät')
-School of Agricultural Science (German: 'Landwirtschaftliche Fakultät')

(within the schools there are several research institutes)

And now the most important part, pictuuuuures!

The beautiful mainbuilding and "Hofgarten":
