Market Street and Manchester Victoria

In these set are picture that I took are refurbishment work going on at Market St stop and work going on around Victoria station.

Quote:
Firstly nice to see PIDS saying "Victoria" on them again

As I mention before ticket machines at Freehold have got new maps on them showing of Bury to Etihad service.

Now at Market St where I mention before about this stop been tough and go for Saturday but after looking at picture that I took I think it should be reopening as is starting to look more platform again then it did on Tuesday.

I didn't really took picture on Balloon st with them doing work to tracks but here are couple of picture down there.

MPT were working on overhead wires on Corporation St today probably trying to get it all working for Saturday.

I think this picture would been lot better if train and tram going past here.

Couple of Pictures outside Victoria station.

And here picture that I took inside Victoria station.

Quote:
I have to say this will probably be good spot to take picture on Saturday if they keep covered off MEN arena stairs.

Nice to see tram finally in station.

Like have put these sign up at Victoria station.

Line heading off to Shudehill and by end of year to Exchange Square.

Victoria new platform.

I'm sure someone already mention this but PIDS at Victoria were only tracking ORL trams but it should be working properly from Saturday.

Couple pictures of tram at Victoria station.

As for the junctions at Long Millgate does this help work it all out? The TMS design is interesting to say the least.

Well Victoria now supports two way working for Metrolink once again.

I took a quick trip down this afternoon to get some photos of the two way working once more.

Anyway here are a selection from my set. Whilst I was there the services seemed to consist of the 12 minute ORL/SML service all singles , a 12 minute Bury Altrincham (and return) all singles and a Bury to Piccadilly 12 minute made up generally of doubles. By the time I was leaving some of the Piccadilly trips were being extended to Etihad Campus. The PIDS inbound seemed to be working well but the outbound one was missing the Piccadilly to Bury sets for some reason. We got the impression that this was perhaps because they were untimetabled after Abraham Moss.

A couple of views from the eastern footbridge. This viewpoint is pretty useless now the shelter is up.

3035 appears from under the road bridge with a Bury to Altrincham direct trip.

3010 heads out north to Bury

Now up to the mezzanine.

3005 approaches crossing Corporation Street on the way to Rochdale.

P1100111 by sghyde, on Flickr

and winds its way through the junctions and entering the middle platform line. There is a temporary 5 mph restriction through the junctions outbound.

Yes I thought I had missed it as there were a lot of thick clouds low down but then I could see that the clouds to the west were moving eastwards and there was a gap appearing so I decided to wait another 12 minutes and hey presto! You got some great shots at Victoria, I returned later and thought I might be in for a rainbow over the new roof when it started hail-stoning but it didn't happen.

Market Street Metrolink stop upgrade work
21 February 2015

The first phase of work to modernise the city centre Market Street Metrolink stop is now completed.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) announced in February that it is carrying out work over the coming months to offer a greatly improved shelter and stop appearance whilst making it easier for passengers to move around the busy stop.

Work to reinforce the foundations was completed over the February half-term week, in preparation for a new passenger shelter being installed, with the older bus-style shelters removed in readiness for a much longer single shelter to be installed this spring

I understand that you are all very proud of your Metrolink, and that the system has built up great enthusiasm around it, but we need to keep the picture count a bit lower. I got fed up of the same views of Victoria half way scrolling through this page.

Keep up with the updates, because Metrolink is great, but keep it concise guys!

I'd love to see more shots of existing infrastructure too instead of constant construction pics of vacant sites. That would be nice!

But then people would complain that all we're posting is pictures of existing infrastructure, and not enough of building projects!

All I can suggest is keeping up with developments on Flickr, or just come down here yourself!
