Single line/outbound

More single line track-bed in SPS

Ducting in where it meets the road but no track-bed yet

New track outside the gallery

New foundations and ducting at the other end of the gallery. Given the size of the pour and the OHLE poles, I think this will be where the points will be for the single line.

Some of the tent is coming down at St Ann's now. The far end is still covered though and is covered at either end where the remaining roof is.

Curb-stones going in outside M&S. The darker line is other bits sat on-top of the lighter coloured curb-stones

The ever-progressing stop at Exchange Square. The platform edge uprights are covered in foam wrapping.

It shouldn't really have been a surprise. It was mentioned in this news article on the tfgm website:

There are still two landings to be installed for the steps - perhaps this will happen tonight.

A survey of 2CC progress this afternoon between Victoria and Market Street and also Mosley Street to Manchester Central area. Sorry but this is a bit of a photo marathon.

Duct installation continues at the junction between Corporation Street and Long Millgate.

P1130257 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

P1130261 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

The track across Todd Street is now almost finished with the concrete edging to the rails being poured today.

P1130264 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

P1130267 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

A significant item I noticed was that they have started installing the building fixing eye bolts for the OLE on a number of buildings between Victoria and Exchange Square.

Co-op Bank.

Just left of the lightning conductor.

P1130269 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

P1130271 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

Printworks just above the entrance to Waxy O'Connors.

P1130274 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

and on the corner of Withy Grove.

P1130276 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

Over the road on the Triangle Building above the Hanging Ditch plate.

P1130279 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

and another further along between the 2 windows.

P1130280 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

Exchange Square platform continues to take shape.

P1130298 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

I noticed that the structure is different to the main Phase 3 platforms with independent platform walls being installed. The walls at the Market Street end can just be seen in these shots. This looks like the same form as at Deansgate Castlefield.

P1130286 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

P1130288 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

Masses of reinforcement were being assembled for the crossover pointwork.

P1130291 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

P1130295 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

This intrigued me, they seem to be forming a set of ducts up the steps into the Arndale Centre.

P1130292 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

P1130293 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

Kerbing and drainage channels at the Market Street junction, not very exciting I know.

P1130301 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

On Cross Street quite a bit of old track is visible in places including this cross section of double track.

P1130302 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

P1130303 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

Now over to the other end of 2CC starting on Mosley Street.

The big event is the appearance of the double to single line pointwork, albeit loosely laid out for now.

P1130305 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

As expected all in flatbottom rail like Balloon Street was.

P1130306 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

P1130308 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

P1130309 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

P1130311 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

That nice single track dropped kerb arrangement on Princess Street.

P1130314 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

Just a short gap in the single line here.

P1130315 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

At the Lower Mosley Street end nothing much changes..

P1130318 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

until you reach Windmill Street.

Where more rails are laid out for the new outbound /single line.

P1130322 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

P1130323 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

The fastening plates for some were being installed.

P1130365 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

The concrete base for the new inbound 1CC/2CC points has been cast.

P1130324 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

P1130325 by Steve Hyde, on Flickr

and was indeed being poured as I walked past.

Station underpass ticket barriers will 'cause chaos' on Stockport County matchdays
14:09, 17 JULY 2015

The Central area committee is opposed to Virgin Trains' plans after being contacted by more than 150 people

A council committee has vowed to oppose the closure of Stockport station underpass after hearing it could create problems on Stockport County match days.

Ward councillors for nearby Edgeley were the first to raise concerns last week about the anti-fair dodging proposals from Virgin Trains, which take effect from August 18.

They have since been contacted by more than 150 residents who object to losing the much used cut through between Edgeley, Grand Central and the town centre

Took some picture of 2CC work while I was in Manchester today. (Sorry if they look same to what other people took)

Work have started near Victoria station to connect 2CC line to tracks that already down.

Bit of tracks work just outside Urbis Football museum.

Still lot of work still needed here.

Crossover outside Arndale is taking shape and guess by end of this months we may start seeing crossover tracks putting down here.

Exchange Square Metrolink stop is taking shape.

My estimated date of December starting to look right if testing doesn't need to take that long to do.

The short fence by the footpath is finished

And at the ramp end of the island, we have.... ballast? Strange that the only place with visible ballast at the station is separated from the track bed by concrete and it serves no purpose...

Also of note, a MCUK/Eccles double unit failed (not sure why) and pulled into the central bay. An announcement was made that the next would depart from the opposite platform and the PID on the central platform changed to a scrolling flashing message on the bottom line saying something like "THE NEXT ECCLES SERVICE WILL DEPART FROM THE OPPOSITE PLATFORM". A single turned up. It filled up. Pretty much all passengers on the tram had to get off at Harbour City when we were told as the tram left Anchorage that the tram wouldn't be stopping at MCUK. Extremely annoyed. I understand the need to reform service. But when it involves not running almost an entire tram of passengers to their destination... Surely there are better options. And surely giving the masses the service they paid for should be the most important thing?

Interestingly in the last photograph a part of an Orange Crane can be seen, this is the site for the new huge X1 MediaCity development...
