winтеr тiме | Sarajevo, as once before Christmas

Today it finally started heavily snowing in Sarajevo. Winter is the most romantic part of the year when it comes to Sarajevo, and as you all know Sarajevo was the host of the 84 Winter Olympics. In addition, for those of you who dont know, Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with its 700.000 people in the Greater Sarajevo Area it is the social, economic, industrial, and cultural center of the country. Here are some pictures I took on my walk tonight. I froze my ass off literally, so I hope you will enjoy! And sorry for the bad quality, as I took them with my mobile!

PART I - NIGHTSHOTS municipalities of Old City and Center

(scroll down for PART II - DAYTIME pictures and municipalities of Center & New Sarajevo)

Here we go!

Hope you like it, and sorry once again for the bad image quality!

Merry Xmass and a Happy New year from Sarajevo

Looks nice! Could've been more decorations. I didn't know Sarajevo was that big. Wikipedia says 300,000 in the city and 420,000 in the metro area. Anyway, nice job!

Thanks.. Ah its still 16th december, they have put up the xmas trees soon

Yeah, before the war it was counting around 900.000 in the greater area, now the estimates are around 700.000, but its hard to predict as we are having our census in 2011.

I noticed some German influence in the stores and in a street name, why is that? Is there a connection between both countries?

Anyway, the pictures are really good, even those taken with the mobile's camera! I like the colours of the buildings, the city looks nice in winter time and I had no idea you had SO MUCH snow in Sarajevo! Wow!
