Unfortunately the strike and the blockade are still on and because
of that serbian sleeping cars don't run since the beginning of November.

Russian workhorses...in two or three years, there should be about 40 of these DMU trainsets on Serbian rails.

Works to reopen the section Valjevo-Kosjerić of Belgrade-Bar line
(which is the only one that still remains closed after heavy rain down falls in May and landslide) started a few days ago and may take about two months to complete.

On-again, off-again construction of Belgrade's new railway station has begun once again, with the goal of completing basic infrastructure necessary for the relocation of the old station, allowing for construction of the multi-use "Belgrade on water" project on the land currently occupied by it.

"Belgrade on Water" project - you can see the current mail rail station in the bottom, right corner - the building will be re-purposed, likely as a museum of some sort:

Now would be a good time to ensure that space exists there for future metro lines and stations. It would be a shame if they develop that area, and then they have to dig expensive tunnels after.

According to the plan, the works on the railroad should last two years. Serbian Minister of Traffic Zorana Mihajlovic has underlined that it is the most important infrastructural project in this year. According to her, it will enable Serbia to provide the better transport for the merchandise and passengers, and the final decision on the model of financing will be made upon the completion of the feasibility study. The agreement on the modernization of the railroad Belgrade-Budapest was attained by prime ministers of Serbia and china, Aleksnadar Vucic and Li Keqiang, during the recent summit of China and 16 countries of the central and eastern Europe. - See more at: http://voiceofserbia.org/content/mod....r14c2ECV.dpuf

Nice pic! Where is Svrljiski Timok, on which line or between which larger stations?

That picture is taken in a gorge that accommodates the Nis-Zajecar line.

On the Niš-Zaječar line, between stations Niševac and Palilula.

The same bridge:

Wow ! This line looks like a little gem... Spectacular landscape, mechanical
signalling, hand-throwed switches... even still remnants of the steam era.
Can this line still be travelled today ?

Yes. That red DMU goes Niš-Zaječar-Niš three times per day. That will be increased if the line get another DMU as they are delivered from Russia.

What about northwards from Zajecar to Pozarevac? The Serbian Railways Server claims there are no (or no direct) trains on that line.
I heard works on the Corridor X from Beograd to Nis would intensify soon. Will this lead to further delays for services?
and one final question: with the strike over, has sleepers and restaurant coach service resumed normally or are there still problems?
Thanx everyone in Serbia for keeping us up to date.

Passenger trains go only as far as Majdanpek. Between Majdanpek and Požarevac the track is in a bad state, and there isn't enough train sets to run on it.

I don't know about the rest.

Hello! Works on corridor X didn't start yet and when they do
it will not cause big delays because the section via Mladenovac that will be modernized is now 30 km/h so during the works speed will not be lower than that.

Trains to Niš always have some delay because when they made time table
they calculated speeds that woulds be after the works are done and the works didn't even start.

I've just heard that one couchette is on night train Belgrade-Budapest,
sleeping car is not back and I guess it's because of crisis with passenger cars in Serbia. Two days ago IC ''Ivo Andrić'' Belgrade-Budapest went with one car
to Hungary. That's not even a big deal because out of summer season trains from Serbia to Hungary cross the border almost empty.
