Great thread
 Honestly I imagined the serbian railways to be in a much worse condition(though its still far from being modern). Also the reconstruction works are interesting. How many km were reconstructed? How much money invested? waht are the future plans....Give us some info....

Batajnica–Golubinci total 31 km, including construction of new line in the length of 7,4 km, from Stara Pazova to Golubinci. Total value of works is 30 million €. Speed will be increased on projected speed of 160 km/h.
In the framework of Railways Repair Program II, except modernization of rail section Batajnica–Golubinci, European Investment Bank will finance, in the amount of 80 million €, the construction of 10 km new double-track traffic line on Corridor 10, on rail section Gilje –Paraćin, between Belgrade and Niš, as well as repair of 58 km line between Ćele Kula and Staničenje, on the Niš – Dimitrovgrad line. Ten new diesel-motor trains will be found on the Serbian tracks within next two years. On the international public tender, which was invited by "Serbian Railways", four companies answered, and within next thirty days it will be decided where from these diesel-motor trains will be bought. Four big European companies answered to the international public tender for the procurement of the diesel-motor trains of the "Serbian Railways": CAF from Spain, ŽOS Vrutky from Slovakia, METROVAGONMAŠ from Russia and Gredelj from Croatia. www.serbianrailways.com |

Classes 441 and 444 are built under swedish licence? They look like 461's little sisters, just as Romania's classes 43, 44 and 46 are compared with 40, 41, 42 and 45.

Yes it is Swedish ASEA made under licence. 461 has 6 axles compared to 4 axles on 441.
