he is probably being the ambassador for CPM.
He was also present in the foundation laying ceremony of the 4.3km Park circus-Parama island elevated road corridor.

I don't think he is a very political person. Though he always admits that he is great fan of Buddha. Also, he is very keen on Kolkata's development. Remember he was even in a railway function with Mamata Banerjee regarding the Behala Railways sports complex construction.

Kolkata is very small in East-West but it is giant city if you consider North-South. So, I think we need few North-South corridor rather than having ring roads(Like say Barasat-Raichak, Diamond harbor - Kalyani etc). Though small ring roads are OK. What do guys think?

All the cities images are from equal height. Here we can clearly see that Kolkata is quite stretched in N-S direction like Mumbai, though off late Mumbai has spread eastwards. Kolkata ![]() Delhi ![]() Mumbai

I completely agree with you saraf.I always was of the opinion that a wide elevated running south to north with appropriate access and exit points would be most beneficial. This north south corridor and bye pass will be parallel and can have connectors connecting them both.

Anyway, we immediately need an Highway further east, parallel to Rajarhat ex'way+EM Bypass. It can be started somewhere at Madhyamgram and can be ended somewhere at Graia or Narendrapur. But this is not going to happen in near future..

I agree with you guys completely. IMHO, the proposed ring road may not serve traffic for the next few decades. Given the plan i am not sure how they plan to acquire land for such a mammoth project. Instead flyovers over key junctions coupled with metro corridors is a much better option. Also a bypass ( like the EM Bypass) to decongest the city on a north south axis would be good.

exactly, one is in momentarily bliss for the 30 seconds one is on the flyover. I hope someday they will asphalt the salt lake bypass.
