I will incorporate all the additions after a few days. Meanwhile, if you find more projects which can be added here, then post the info here.

#3 - that is the one along orr. service roads which were mud tracks are being laid now.

also in northern (north east really) section of orr, one more underpass is nearing completion/alerady completed. one half was opened for traffic for nearly 6 months now. this is between the underpass you had marked #14 and hennur road.

and there are also few more along nh7 within city limits to make drive to airport signal free:
1. very popular windsor manor underpass. didn't know until i saw the map that a railway line passes over it. i really doubt anyone thinks of it as a railway underbridge.
2. couple of magic box underpasses. one to connect cunnigham road and other i think is cauvery jn which made a lot of news.
3. there is another small flyover after windsor manor road if you are driving from city
4. i think another regular flyover after mekri circle underpass was getting built a year ago. don't know status now.

BBMP to widen 21 roads soon
Bangalore, Dec 2, DHNS:

A massive demolition drive is in the offing along some important roads, as the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike will soon launch 21 road widening projects.

According to the BBMP sources, the road widening drive will be taken on Kanakapura Main Road, Amruthanagar Main Road, Yalchenahalli Main Road, Gubbalalu Main Road, Gubbalalu 100 feet Link Road, Vaajarahalli Main Road, Vaddarapalya Main Road, Kammanahalli Road, Hommadevanahalli Road, Sarjapur Main Road, Halanayakanahalli Road, Rayasandra Road, Begur Koppa Road, Kodi Chikkanahalli Main Road, Begur Hosur Road, Kammanahalli Begur Main Road, Hulimavu Begur Road, Hulimavu Hosur Road, Parappana Agrahara Main Road, Koodlu Road and AECS Layout Main Road.

The BBMP has planned to widen Kanakapura Road by 45 metres all along a stretch of 8.1 km, starting from JP Nagar 15th Cross to NICE Road, which would cover Yelchenahalli, Konanakunte Cross and Talaghattapura.

Amruthanagar Road from Khode’s Glass Factory to Anjanapura would be widened by 24 metres, Yelchenahalli Road from Kanakapura Main Road to ISRO Layout 10th Cross by 12 metres, Gubbalalu Main Road and Gubbalalu 100 feet Road would be widened by 18 metres and 24 metres, respectively. Wajarahalli Main Road, Waddarpalya Main Road, Kammanahalli Road, Begur Koppa Road, Parappana Agrahara Road and AECS Layout Main Road would be widened by 24 metres. Sarjapur Main road would be widened by 45 metres on a stretch of 4.5 km.

Tannery Road

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike started the process of road widening work on Tannery Road. There was a growing demand for the widening of the road which was very narrow. The BBMP persuaded people to give up their properties to ease traffic congestion. Many residents have reportedly agreed to it and voluntarily purchased TDR but there was resistance against this road widening project and the BBMP is persuading them, said BBMP sources.

Tannery Road taken up for widening

Staff Reporter

Property owners co-operate with BBMP in its drive

Only 13 buildings were demolished on the first day

Most of the shop owners give notice two weeks ago

OLD GIVES WAY TO THE NEW: Some 690 buildings will be demolished along a 5-km stretch of the Tannery Road.

BANGALORE: The congested Tannery Road, with its meat shops and hardware stores, saw the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike take up the road-widening project here on Thursday without any hassle.

Close to 5 km of the road is expected to be cleared for widening of the stretch, starting from Fraser Town to the Nagavara railway crossing nudging the Outer Ring Road.

The BBMP had identified some 690 buildings a few weeks ago — mostly shops and small commercial establishments — for the demolition, and senior BBMP officials say that notices had been issued to all property owners. A part of the slaughterhouse on Tannery Road has made way for the project. Aijaz Khureshi, president of the Meat Merchants Association of Bangalore, said about 15 feet of the slaughterhouse facing the main road had been ceded. “It was the open space facing the road where the animals were stationed,” he said. He added that there were no problems or protests by any of the shop owners. Although there were fears of trouble from shop owners, the operation went on smoothly, according to BBMP officials.

On Thursday, portions of only 13 buildings were taken down. A major part of the demolition included an old commercial complex belonging to the BBMP itself. While members of the Meat Merchants’ Association say that notices had been issued well in advance, many shop owners on Tannery Road said that they had not been informed of the demolition till a fortnight ago.

I think there are some magic boxes between Mekhri circle and Le Meridian Hotel, which can be considered as underpasses.

It is an RUB. Many times people say flyovers instead of ROBs and underpasses instead of RUBs, but that won't change the reality.

Flyover parks a pile-up

http://www.dnaindia.com/bangalore/re...ile-up_1323855

Quote:
It was a move meant to ease the flow of traffic, but it has caused just the opposite effect at the Shantinagar bus stand. With traffic police having done away with the intersection of traffic on the Richmond Circle flyover,a huge traffic pile-up occurred on Double Road during the peak hours of Monday morning. The snarl ended up clogging the Shantinagar bus station.

The flyover is at the intersection of Mission Road, Residency Road, Richmond Road and Double Road,Sampangi Rame Gowda, manager, operations, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) said, "Since Saturday, when the traffic flow was changed to disallow the merging of traffic on the flyover, Double Road has witnessed a heavier flow. There are 1,200 trips halting at the Shantinagar bus station each day. Over the last two days, we have deployed a special traffic controller here to ensure that the buses keep moving smoothly, without halting for too long and disrupting the flow."

"This road was not as busy earlier. For the first time now, we see slow-moving traffic here right through the day. We are apprehensive that the problems will only increase. Once the Majestic or Kempe Gowda bus station is shifted to Shantinagar, we will experience a severe space constraint; manoeuvring buses here will become a problem. We have informed the ACP traffic, but they are keen to observe traffic flow for another two days before considering changing the pattern of traffic flow here."

City belongs to all,it is better if people stop cribbing about the infrastructure and cooperate with the authorities.

If that 'Honda' person lives in Indira Nagar and wants to go to Electronic City to work and go to his other office in Sarjapur Road for a meeting in the afternoon and has to go back home in the evening, Can you tell me which 'Volvo' he has to take? Even I dont have a 'Honda', I still prefer to use my two wheeler or whatever car I could afford, to make my commute easier. As long as 'End Mile Connectivity' is not there, you can't force people to use 'public transport'. There are no shelters, proper pedastrian pathway in most of the places, say Marathahalli junction..

If that guy is so capable; & he has to go to his office located in other area for a meeting, then probably his designation would allow him to use the company cab.
Now don't tell he has to visit his autny's home in kormangala.

Good one, Akash! Aunty's house at koramangala
We all need a very efficient rapid transit with seamless connectivity, for which the city is really working on, all we have to do is, wait with patience.

thanx.......Shyam it really boils my blood when I see techies driving singly and later cribbing about the traffic and scolding the buses for clogging the roads. real nuts.

Many people just want to showoff that they have volvo's in their cities but don't want to travel in them.

few more to what i mentioned in my previous posts. first 2 are i think still under construction:
1. kanakapura road & with road parallel & north of orr (this is the same road that extends from bannerghatta circle: intersection of orr & bannerghatta road where you have flyover & underpass).
2. underpass along orr in south somewhere in d6 box was also under construction for a couple of years now.
3. in city at the complex junction of seshadri road, post office road/ ambedkar road & nrupatunga road (somewhere edge of d3 & d4 boxes). there is a magic box underpass there.

also, nice intersection with hosur road was completed many years ago. you probably meant nice - bannerghatta road intersection (d8).

also, if you are travelling along nice road between bannerghatta road & hosur road, there are flyovers built perpendicular to nice road pretty much every km. some of them appeared as flyovers to no where: there was no road really just that flyover above nice road. i was wondering if it was built keeping in mind future urbanization on either side of nice road. so, i am not sure how you are going to mark them. you are better off zooming in further & get nice road off your map. it is anyway too far away for bangaloreans.
