There isn't a flyover being built at the Jn. of Kanakapura Rd [NH209] and ORR. I've been to the place quite often. There is only one grade separator on Kanakapura Rd and that is the intersection with NICE Road.
Also, as for the flyovers on TOP of, or underpasses BELOW NICE Rd, they were built where a village road existed. It is upto the erstwhile panchayat/CMC/Ward officials to connect them to the roads...

There is an ad in DH today of some inauguration - Mysore Rd - Magadi road link 6 lane road and a flyover in Somanahalli. While the half page ad was full of pictures of various politicians, there was, as usual, no map, no information or where this road starts, where it ends, who can use it etc.
Any idea if this allows going to airport from Mysore without crossing city? |

Bangalore's Hebbal flyover set to go wider
Hello all,
My debut on SSC, and glad to be here! ----------------------------------------------- Bangalore's Hebbal flyover set to go wider Bosky Khanna / DNAWednesday, January 13, 2010 8:37 IST Bangalore: Here’s some good news for Bangaloreans. The busy Hebbal flyover that connects the Bengaluru International Airport to rest of the city will soon become six-lane wide, thus giving respite to the beleaguered traffic in the area. This is not all. The entire stretch of the road leading to the airport will be signal-free, thus enduring smooth traffic movement. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is handing over the Hebbal flyover to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for making it six-lane wide. Furthermore, NHAI is also preparing a detailed project report on making NH-7, from Hebbal flyover to international airport, eight-lane wide and signal-free. BDA engineer R Sreenivasa said that they had discussed the issue with the officials of NHAI and Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and government orders have also been issued. The BDA will clear the debris below the flyover and landscape the area at a cost of Rs1.9 crore, before handing it over to the NHAI for the widening work. Of the 5.6 km flyover, the NHAI aims to add piers on a kilometre stretch to make it six lane. The BDA had constructed the flyover in coordination with the NHAI. The agency aims to develop 9.6 acresbelow the flyover and hand it over. A statue of Kempegowda will also be installed here. BDA engineers point that the passenger car units (pcu) was 12,364 vehicles during peak hours in 2009 which is likely to increase to 13,291 in 2010. BBMP chief engineer (major roads) Chikkarayappa said, the road till Hebbal belongs to the Palike and it will be handed over to improve upon the existing infrastructure. Furthermore, NHAI is also conducting surveys to construct flyovers at five junctions on the highway towards airport, to make it signal free. This will ensure seamless connectivity, NHAI manager, technical, Ravi Sudhakar told DNA. The project for widening the flyover, widening the highway till airport and constructing flyovers is estimated around Rs600 crore. It will be taken up on a public private partnership (PPP) model. Experts point out that there is a need to undertake this project as the vehicular movement is rapidly increasing. Advisor to the government of Karnataka for traffic, transportation and infrastructure, MN Sreehari said that once road is widened, traffic will increase and thus lead to road congestion. He felt that as compared to BBMP and BDA, the NHAI has better expertise and knowledge it was a good idea to assign them this task. |

Missing section of ORR complete
Quote:
Hi! I just registered on SSC, although I have been following discussions on this and other threads with great interest for over a year now. The 6 lane road being referred to is the incomplete 4.2 km section of the ORR between Magadi Road (Sumanahalli Junction) and Mysore Road (Nayandahalli Junction). Google Maps has not yet updated itself, but the road is visible on Wikimapia: This is the Sumanahalli Junction where it begins. Follow the road south till it takes a curve at NGEF Layout and then crosses the Nagarbhavi Circle, curving further south before it meets Mysore Road at the Nayandahalli Junction. All can use it without restriction and there is no toll etc. However, no BMTC buses use the road yet ![]() I will be travelling there tomorrow or the day after. Expect some snaps in a couple of days

No It will take more than one month for sure to have this stretch completed.I travelled across this road and felt that BBMp missed a chance to make this road as expressway. They could have easily added one or two underpasses for this elevated stretch. But anyways this looks a beautifull stretch and it takes aproximatly 10 minutes to travell the stretch of 6 kms.And even after the flyover, there are 4 more kms which are signal free.So totally 10 kms of 6 lane(3 lanes each way)road without a signal. Construct one more underpass at nandini layout and we will have a complete stretch of 13 kms from goruguntepaly(NH-4) to nayandalli signal free. And thats amazing. Looks like bangalore north areas are getting good lift with many major infrastructure areas comming to completion.

The BTM/JP Nagar stretch of the ORR is planned for widening, the news had come out in papers few months back. One of the shop owners in BTM told me that he is vacating and moving to HSR layout because the buildings along the BTM ORR will be pulled down for sure in the next 6 months. Does anybody have any info on this...

Seems a little strange, because the ORR in the BTM area seems quite broad (at least between CSB and 16 th Main), after which it narrows down. The real bottleneck is going to be JP Nagar - even the 24th Main/15th Cross intersection underpass appears to be only a 4-lane affair.

Pics of the Mysore Road - Magadi Road section of ORR
As promised, I present to you a series of pictures from the Mysore Road - Magadi Road section of ORR, a part of which is at present under construction. The road begins at the Mysore Road - ORR junction near Nayandahalli, and continues for 4.2 km upto the Magadi Road - ORR junction near Sumanahalli, where a flyover has been built.
The project was scheduled to be completed sometime in 2008 but was delayed due to land acquisition issues and difficult terrain. The deadline was further revised to 2009, and eventually the section from Sumanahalli upto Nagarbhavi Circle was recently opened to traffic. The cost of the entire project is approximately Rs. 73 crore. This excludes the cost of another grade separator that has been proposed at Nayandahalli. The pictures have been taken while proceeding from Mysore Road to Magadi Road. The entire series of pics has been posted on the Bangalore Ring Roads thread. Are you sure you have posted in Bangalore's ring roads thread ? There hasn't been any new post in that thread since 4 weeks.
