Bandar Udara Frans Kaisiepo adalah bandar udara yang terletak di Kecamatan Biak Kota, Kabupaten Biak Numfor, Papua. Bandara ini menjadi pusat penerbangan pada masa penjajahan Belanda di Indonesia dan pada masa pembebasan Irian Barat. Landasan pacu yang digunakan masih digunakan saat ini merupakan peninggalan Belanda yang dibangun pada masa Perang Dunia II. Saat ini, bandara ini dikelola oleh PT Angkasa Pura I.

Info Bandara Frans Kaisiepo

Nama bandara ini diambil dari nama Frans Kaisiepo, pahlawan nasional Indonesia yang lahir di Biak. Beliau merupakan salah satu tokoh di Konferensi Malino, yaitu konferensi yang membahas pembentukan negara Republik Indonesia. Beliau juga merupakan tokoh yang mengusulkan nama Irian yang berasal dari bahasa Biak. Bandara Frans Kaisiepo juga terkenal sebagai Bandara Mokmer.
Bandar udara di Biak ini mempunyai luas sekitar 206 hektar dan berjarak kurang lebih 1,5 kilometer dari pusat kota Biak.

GMF to construct new hangar in December

GUBERNUR PAPUA BERENCANA BUKA PENERBANGAN INTERNASIONAL DARI BIAK

Biak – Pemerintah kabupaten Biak Numfor mendukung rencana Gubernur Papua yang baru terpilih untuk membuka kembali penerbangan internasional dari bandara Frans Kaisiepo yang terletak di pulau tersebut. Hal ini dilakukan agar dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan perekonomian Biak dan juga memperbesar arus wisatawan mancanegara ke tujuan wisata di Papua.

“Ide rencana mengaktifkan kembali jalur penerbangan internasional dari bandara Frans Kaisiepo Biak perlu didukung, ya bagaimana implementasinya nanti Pemkab dan masyarakat Biak Numfor menunggu gebrakan Gubernur terpilih Lukas Enembe,” ungkap Bupati Biak Numfor, Yusuf Melianus Maryen.

“Pemkab Biak Numfor sangat menanti gebrakan Gubernur Papua terpilih Lukas Enembe dan Wakil Gubernur Klemen Tinal untuk mengantifkan penerbangan Internasional bandara Frans Kaisiepo,” ungkapnya lebih lanjut seperti dikutip dari Antara.

Yusuf mengatakan bahwa Bandara Frans Kaisiepo memiliki bandara yang cukup baik untuk penerbangan internasional, seperti landasan yang panjang yang mampu didarati pesawat berbadan lebar. Hanya saja ia mengatakan Pemerintah Kabupaten Biak berharap dapat dibangun fasilitas di bandara Frans Kaisiepo seperti ruang tunggu, tempat cargo dan fasilitas lainnya untuk mendukung rencana pengoperasian bandara ini menjadi bandara internasional.

Pada tahun 80-an, Garuda Indonesia melayani penerbangan dari Denpasar ke Los Angeles, Amerika melalui Biak. Pesawat McDonnell Douglas DC-10 maskapai tersebut merupakan satu-satunya penerbangan internasional yang mampir ke bandara tersebut. Saat itu, berbagai pihak memandang optimis rute ini, terbukti dengan masuknya beberapa investor yang kemudian membangun hotel di pulau tersebut. Hanya saja, karena satu dan lain hal penerbangan tersebut dihentikan.

Saat ini maskapai besar seperti Garuda, dan Merpati melayani penerbangan dari bandara yang dikelola oleh Angkasa Pura I ini ke Jayapura dan Makasar. Sementara maskapai Susi Air melayani penerbangan dari Biak ke Numfor, Biak Serui serta Biak ke Nabire.

Bisa tidak ya, Biak kembali dijadikan bandara transit GA ke LAX?
Seandainya nanti rute CGK-LAX kembali dioperasikan seperti waktu dahulu?

Menunggu peringkat Indonesia di FAA naik menjadi peringkat 1 dulu om .Saat ini peringkat Indonesia di FAA hanya peringkat 2 jadi maskapai Indonesia masih dilarang untuk ke US sana.

Kenapa harus lewat Biak? Mending transit di HND/NRT/ICN/TPE karena jelas load-nya untuk ke CGK atau LAX (looking at current competition). Anyway, I doubt that GA will fly non-stop to LAX once Indonesia gets back its FAA1 rating. Codesharing with Delta from NRT perhaps?

Kalau saya sih gak terlalu mendukung GA transit di BIK
cuma menjawab saja kalau kalau maskapai Indonesia ke US ya realisasinya setelah peringkat FAA Indonesia naik.Dan juga GA kan sudah Codeshare ndak hanya sama Delta (yang sama Delta itu ndak cuma codeshare tapi tuker penumpang yak ) sama China Airlines dan Etihad juga GA menjalin codeshare ke US

Bandara Frans Kaisiepo Biak Rugi Rp 47 Miliar dalam Dua Tahun

Walaupun merugi, PT Angkasa Pura I sebagai pengelola akan terus menjalankan tugasnya. “Meski operasional Bandara Frans Kaisiepo Biak merugi setiap tahun, tetapi pihak Angkasa Pura I tetap eksis melakukan tugas rutin sebagai otoritas pengelola jasa penerbangan di daerah ini,” ungkap Mervin.

Menurut Mervin, kerugian yang dialami oleh Bandara Frans Kaisiepo terjadi karena tidak banyak maskapai penerbangan yang beroperasi di Biak. Selain itu, belakangan ini terjadi pengurangan penerbangan di Biak karena berhentinya operasional maskapai penerbangan Merpati Nusantara Airlines.

Mervin berharap agar Merpati lekas beroperasi kembali dan bisa meramaikan penerbangan di Biak yang juga memberikan kontribusi pemasukan uang ke daerah. “Merpati berhenti beroperasi tidak hanya mengurangi penumpang saja tetapi dengan stopnya perusahaan penerbangan itu telah memperkecil pemasukan perusahaan bagi pengelolaan jasa kebandaraan di Biak,” ungkap Mervin.
