That is still up in the air. Which ever one has an opening I guess. last I looked, we had openings in Calgary. But the list is always changing so who knows. I would prefer someplace in southern Ontario.

With your German background you'd probably fit in well in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Probably a bit smaller than what you're looking for (half-million), but growing fast and there's access to Toronto when you really want to spice things up.

@ bigchrisfgb & MexiQuebecois, THANKS GUYS! I apperciate all the support! Go Team Canada! hehehe

Yeah, I heard that Kitchener-Waterloo would be nice. It would almost be like being in Ohio still, but minus all the crap that goes with living south of the border! Honestly though, I'll take whatever they can give me. If I ended up in a big city or a small town, I'll still be happy either way. And in the end, if in the end I need a change, I'll just move to one of the bigger cities.

Does any canadian politican or political party speak up about the current immigration system you have there? (which is disgraceful in my opinion)

A system that gives priority to anyone who claims to be a refugee (for whatever goddamn reason they like apparently) while educated people who speak both English and French and have university degrees have to go through a terrible long process full of hurdles and unreasonable requirements (like have a job offer before you even apply to immigrate )

Here in Australia on the other hand we have the opposite issue, as PR visas here are handed out like lollies especially to international students.

So my question is, how does Canada expect to fill up all those skilled jobs in which there is so much shortage if the immigration system is so messed up right now?

I agree with most of your post, however keep in mind that the vast majority of people who apply for refugee status get denied (Why do you think Mexicans now need a VISA to visit Canada? System abuse) and yeah I agree that the Canadian system is messed up in many ways, but you don't necessarily need a job offer, who told you that? If you have a job offer you can void the necessary funds to have once you immigrate ($10,000 CDN which, as an Australian, you can get them without much hassle) but it is NOT a requirement, also there are several options such as going through a PNP programme and certain other things, but hey at least Canada doesn't send its refugees to concentration camps in the middle of the outback with subhuman conditions.

Oh my god! We're so backward, F U you Australia! But wait! When we decline PR Visas and say that we only want skilled migrants ... we're racist!

You just can't win.

You are right and that is why I am applying through the Quebec provincial program as their requirements are more reasonable and you only need $3000 (approx) for proof of funds.

I'll apply through quebec too but that's because I plan to stay in montreal, i've heard that big percentage of people that immigrate to canada through the quebec immigration system leave the province in the first few years.

I have a question. Is there an agency in Ontario, or Canada as a whole which helps new arrivals with locating resources, like apartments, supermarkets, setting up bank accounts and so on? Can you get government assistance? Moving from Ohio will be expensive and I might need help getting by till I get settled and my paychecks from work are regular.

Sometimes I think that a working holiday visa might be a better option as it literally takes 2 minutes to apply online and almost no paperwork required.
Not to mention that for Australian citizen going to Canada we get 2 years with the WHV and can apply for it multiple times once it runs out....

What do you think?

A WHV doesn't allow you direct path toward permanent residence, however it will allow you to get extra points and perhaps immigrate under the new CEC (Canadian Experience Class).
