Councils stopped building houses 20 odd years ago. Anyway surely he should be leaping with joy at the sign of any new build to fulfill his genuine desire to see people housed? I cant see any other genuine solution in a capitalist society. Maybe he isnt so genuine after all?

Voting for a policital party that supports councils building homes is the only other option.

nothing wrong with a bit of a mix in an area, it actually helps long term stability. Anyway who are these extra new cleaners and low paid workers you keep going on about? The Finsbury Park/Holloway Road/Manor House area has long been a cheaper (read more affordable) area of London to live but it suffers from from a poor image in certain areas which left unchecked could lead to an even more costly bad situation.

Plenty of cities around the world offer a mix of habitat spaces for differing incomes all of a higher standard than found in the UK.

So do you support more houses being built in London?

The new cleaners etc will be the natural thing you would expect with more new offices around, would you not think.
Or do you assume the same cleaners who clean the old offices are going to clean the new offices too.

Yea i would vote for a party that promises to build new homes for poorer people, and reasonable rent.

I assume you've not bothered to read the documents in the original post? It's pretty clear that there are a large number of affordable studios set out in the plans. Try reading before jumping on the high & mighty.

Business Design Centre Group’s owners select United House for £130 million Finsbury Park regeneration project

United House has been chosen as joint venture partner by the owners of the Business Design Centre in Islington to deliver a major £130million mixed use development that will transform the heart of Finsbury Park, the joint venture company will be known as United House City North Ltd.

City North Islington, an existing trading estate next to Finsbury Park mainline and underground stations, is owned by City North Islington Holdings, whose owners also own and operate the Business Design Centre trade, exhibition and conference venue in Islington. The site will be developed in partnership with United House, who will act as joint developer and contractor, to create 308 one to four bedroom private apartments in a landmark development designed by award-winning architects Benson & Forsyth which will include two striking 21-storey towers. The development will also comprise 47 affordable homes, and 116,000 sq ft of retail, restaurant leisure and office space. The project will cost approximately £130million to deliver and will be the largest regeneration scheme undertaken in Islington since the Arsenal Stadium project.

Finsbury Park Station is the busiest transport hub outside of Zone 1 and the proposed high quality landmark scheme will act as a gateway for the area. The development will deliver a diverse mix of uses which will increase the vibrancy and vitality of Finsbury Park and act as a catalyst for wider regeneration.

City North Islington appointed Savills to find a joint venture partner and, following a competitive tender process, United House was chosen from a shortlist of companies because of its contracting, developing and investment skills.

Jeffrey Adams, Group Chief Executive, of United House, said: “United House has an outstanding track record for handling complex regeneration sites in inner London and we are delighted to have been chosen by City North Islington to deliver this scheme with them. The combination of private and affordable homes, shops, restaurants and offices will bring new focus to Finsbury Park.”

Jack Morris, Chairman of City North Islington Holdings and the Business Design Centre Group said: “We are delighted to be working with United House on this project. They have extensive experience in delivering high quality regeneration schemes in partnership. They share our vision and values for City North in wanting to create a scheme for Finsbury Park which we, and the local community, can be proud of. It will bring much-needed new homes, business investment, employment and economic growth to what will become one of London’s most exciting and vibrant areas’.

A start on site is anticipated in the spring of 2013, with completion in 2016.
