Wuhan Metro Line 7 cross-Yangtze River tunnel design. Will be the widest combined rail/highway tunnel in the world. Which is really not surprising as line 7 will use A size trains.

Will the car-area of the tunnel also have escape tunnels?

How wide? Severo-zapadny (North-west) tunnels in Moscow have 3 lanes as well.

That doesn't sound like a subway at all.

It's more a city rail network (like commuter rail) than others.

A high speed mass transit system between two urban centers.

Maybe his previous point was why the news was posted up on a metro thread. But there isn't a thread for intercity railways unless you post it up on the railways thread. Due to its speed it could even be classified as HSR.

Maybe another thread dedicated to intercity commuter lines would do the trick? I mean there are loads of them in the pipeline.

Tickets are too expensive they should drop it closer to an urban railway price. ~15-20RMB

Does that 42 minutes include all 11 intermediate stops?

What's the schedule like for this so-called intercity commuter high-speed rail?

No. 42-minute is the fastest non stop train's travel time. The slow train will take around 1 hour for the whole trip.

6am ~ 12pm, 4pm ~ 7pm: one train per hour.

That's kind of low for a commuter train in a big city.

I'm surprised to see a CRH1 train without the standard CRH livery, why is that? Even Shanghai's Metro Line 22 has CRH livery.
