Come on you are on a skyscraper forum, not a classic architecture forum so don't be surprised that your opinion might not be shared by many! I think it would be creatively bankrupt and lazy to build some psuedo art deco building there as if it were still 1930 when they had access to the money and talent neccesary to build something contemparary.
This new tower is quite
nice in my opinion.

BTW I imagine you might have a more favorable opinion if it were being put up in your city....its a decent tower - has height and a distinct look and is certainly not worth a "vomit smile"

I'm not a big fan of this project, but I couldn't say I don't like it either: according to some people here, is it supposed to be more horrible than the "classic" building seen three posts above?

I have to agree with Shaun. If I lived in NYC, I'd update you guys everyday on this project.

Well the Term at ISU is almost over. Then I'll have a month off to relax and be creative again over at Superpolis. My writing creativity is shot to hell, so I'll need that month off.

Sorry buddy. I meant that to be sarcastic. Seriously though, I appreciate your updates. I'm 3,000 miles away from NYC, so you are my eyes over there.

I would love to get back into my CRX and drive it back to NYC and Boston. That was the most spontaneous and thrilling thing I ever did. Photos don't do NYC justice. That place is bigger than life.

Everytime I watch the intro to the Sopranos I get that same feeling that I got when driving up the Jersey Turnpike and coming up over a hill to see NYC's immense skyline.

That's nuts......I like the trend of using existing facades for new construction......this is being practiced in Seattle as we speak!
