First phase of Hangzhou Metro Line 2 to put into use by end of 2013

Qianjiang Road Station on Metro Line 2 features a wavy ceiling and pillars that remind people of elevated highways. The new line from Caoyang Village Station in Xiaoshan District to Qianjiang Road Station across the Qiantang River in the north will have 24 stations, all underground.

The first phase of Metro Line 2 will go into operation by the end of this year. Trains, each 120 meters long with six carriages, will ply an 18-kilometer section with 13 stations in Xiaoshan District.

The construction of the whole line, about 30 kilometers long, is expected to be completed by 2017.

China adds new cities as operating metro system every year, at last in Hangzhou.

I’ve some questions (arose after viewing some websites). Please answer one by one –
1) Left side, right side or both sides, - which type of platforms are in most numbers in Hangzhou subway network?
2) Which are the highest and deepest stations of Hangzhou metro?
3) Which is the busiest metro station?
4) Which stations have interchange facility with suburban rail network?
5) Where is/are the depot(s) of the subway network?

1) Mostly left side as it is the case fot most of China's metro systems. in Hangzhou only elevated stations have got side platforms as well as a station where line splits to the East.
2) Probably, Wulin Square.
3) I'm pretty sure it is again Wulin Square or maby Hangzhou railway station.
4) What do you mean? At Hangzhou railway station if you arrive to the City by CRH, you can get to the metro avoiding going outside.
5) Haven't seen it yet.

Is there anything to open in Hangzhou this year?

In Hangzhou today they will be selling special holiday tickets dedicated to the Year of the Horse.

As far as I know, only 2014 kits have been issued.

I'm currently waiting for the ceremony. Hope to buy it yet it costs 100 yuan.

Hefei and Hangzhou order metro trains
06 Jun 2014

CHINA: Hefei Urban Rail Transit Co has awarded rolling stock supplier Nanjing SR Puzhen Rail Transport Co a 0·9bn yuan contract to deliver trainsets for Phases 1 and 2 of its Line 1 project in 2015-16.

Hangzhou Metro Group has awarded NPRT a 1·1bn yuan contract to supply trainsets for Line 4 Phase 1 in 2014-17.

‘The latest orders bring the total value of contracts announced by NPRT so far this year to over 4·5bn yuan’, said Patrick Chew, CEO of Midas Holdings which owns a 32·5% stake in NPRT. ‘Having achieved such a strong head start, we are optimistic that NPRT will continue to capture new opportunities and contribute further to our profitability going forward.’

In Hangzhou metro stations now special leaflets are available. They show the map, the future extensions and the rules of conduct, which I liked a lot.

There also stands with boxes where you can put your suggestions on how to make the metro better.

I really appreciate that user-friendly approach!

I don't know if it is worth starting a new thread on Hanzghou BRT, so I decided to put it simply here.

I've written an article on Hangzhou system of Bus Rapid Transit, see here: http://ncd2010.livejournal.com/99696.html

Some pics:

Good photos though I couldn't read the article

I will request to change the thread title to "Hangzhou | Public Transport".

You can try passing my article through Google translate. I just don't have time to translate all my articles into English, it would take months.

Hangzhou metro Line 5 approved
Tuesday, September 09, 2014

CONSTRUCTION is set to begin by the end of the year on the fifth metro line in the Chinese city of Hangzhou following the approval of the project by the Zhejiang provincial government.

The 48.6km 36-station line will link Sci-Tech Island station in Yuhang with Xiangzhang Road in Xiaoshan, and is due to be completed in 2019. Hangzhou Metro Group is implementing the Yuan 35bn ($US 5.69bn) project as a public-private partnership (PPP).

The PPP model will also be used to build the initial phase of Line 6 from Xihhu to West Xiaoshan. Construction is due to begin on the 27km line next year and will take four years to complete.
