Signs have gone up all over town directing pedestrians to their nearest station in preparation for trial service later this month

So down arrow means the metro is behind you?

Either that or that it's below you, although at 300 meters this would be deeper than St Petersburg or Pyongyang, so I doubt it.

I don't like the down arrow pointing to the metro station, an up arrow would make more sense to me. Down arrow to me means that the station entrance is near the sign. At least they have a distance on the sign.

I was in Hangzhou two years ago and a large section of the downtown area was sealed off for the subway construction.
Anyways, love the west lake area! |

So, will Line 1 open this month?
1 Oct - 29 Oct - Nov. Is this final term or it will be postponed. I do not know whether there are any more authorities who have not been riding Line 1 yet. |

Hangzhou metro to debut
Nov 17, 2012 | Source: City Express/Translated by Shanghai Daily
Hangzhou residents will join other major cities in China in welcoming an underground subway transportation network when the city's Metro Line 1 will finally be put into service. A total of 600,000 free tickets have been handed out to residents for a four-day trial operation, starting tomorrow. The subway will be open to ticket holders from 9am to 5pm from Sunday to Wednesday. Passengers need to pay attention to the scheduled time printed on their tickets to avoid huge crowds. The metro operator is asking each commuter to take part in a survey after the free ride and suggestions are welcome. http://www.hicenter.cn/news_detail.asp?id=2179 |

![]() Great system! This looks like one of the more modern and fresh metros in China in terms of design. Are there any more lines under construction? Last edited by VECTROTALENZIS; November 19th, 2012 at 05:12 AM. |
