Finally I managed to sort out my own pictures, so I'm starting my series of reports in Hanzghou metro.

My home is in the city center yet there's no a metro station nearby so far, so the nearest is the famous Wulin Square station.

Entrance on the side of Tianmushan avenue, which is still packed with jams:

The entrace reminds me much of the new ones in Moscow. I like both very much.

Look at the plants that stand in pots. Typical of Japan. Hard to imagine that in Russia or in Europe.

The famous point over the Internet, which is blamed for bad waterproof. I'd say there's no much water, a typical situation on most metro stations in Europe and in some cases in Moscow, too.

100 % of Hangzhou metro stations feature WCs, all are accessible for the diabled.

Like other metro systems in China, Hanzghou metro has a double-deck structure. You get down from outside to the upper deck with turnstiles, ATMs, ticket vending machines, etc. and the platform itself is even lower. So, most of the underground stations are rather deep.

Golden wallpapers were mounted on the occasion of Western holidays. Each station boasts a Christmass tree & gifts installation. It reminds me of the Scene of Christ's Birth in Italy.

I like the elevated entrance "doorstep".
This way, flooding through the entrances is almost impossible.

Got to the line to buy tickets. This is the timing of the first and the last trains. Not very convenient for the evenings, though. And it is the case for almost all Chinese metro systems. If I worked in China the way I work here, every day I would get a taxi or drive by car to get home.

There were a lot of staff at the stations: guards, volunteeres, they all were ready to help you in any petty problem.

Wulin Square station is actually 2 platforms that and 4 tracks. You can transfer by the upper deck.

The way the name of the station is carried out reminds me that in Shanghai at the the stations that were built since 2007 when they broke many world records.

The platform is nothing special. Right the same that you can find in Shanghai, Nanjing and a dozen of other big cities in China (but unlike Beijing, I think), unless some details...
But these details really matter, I think.

Benches at the station feature traditional Chinese painting just like on china or porcelain. Many stations boast thematic painting. And each station has one of its own^ as I can understand. I found it marvelous.

In China, I've seen that only in Hangzhou.

There is much ad dedicated to Hangzhou metro itself and the new Qiantang IBD.

Headways are way too big: the first train is expected in 4 minutes, the second, in 14. During rush hours, headways are reduced to 5 minutes but it is still too much.

Another wonderful detail are beautiful arrows indicating where to stand and how to let people get off the train. The rule is not always respected yet it is not that Shanghai chaos where you sometimes have to push & bump to get off.

I think one thing they can improve is placing more benches on the platform, Shanghai Metro is very good at doing that.

Getting back to the discussion on the rolling stock. The trains are definitely 3 m wide, but are they 23.54 m long? They boast only 4 doors at each side instead of 5 in Shanghai.

Is it a real A-size stock?

I stated that the trains are B-size stock in 6 car sets. Each car is ~19m long and 2.8 meters wide. Like all other B-size sets it has 4 doors per side.

But them seem very wide, much wider than Alstoms on line 8 in shanghai, really. Much wider than Moscow trains that are 2,7 m wide.

The Alstoms on line 8 (line 6 and 5 too!) in shanghai are C size trains 2.6 meters wide... The stupidest loading gauge ever

Is it possible to use the SPTC card in HZ metro?

I want to punch the person who decided to use C trains on line 8 in the face, in front of his families.

First phase of Hangzhou Metro Line 2 to put into use by end of 2013

Qianjiang Road Station on Metro Line 2 features a wavy ceiling and pillars that remind people of elevated highways. The new line from Caoyang Village Station in Xiaoshan District to Qianjiang Road Station across the Qiantang River in the north will have 24 stations, all underground.

The first phase of Metro Line 2 will go into operation by the end of this year. Trains, each 120 meters long with six carriages, will ply an 18-kilometer section with 13 stations in Xiaoshan District.

The construction of the whole line, about 30 kilometers long, is expected to be completed by 2017.

Line 2 station scheme (杭城烟雨) released.

Line 2 (24 stations) will open in 2014, the station decoration will start in June this year.

Jiangguo Rd Station, Xueyuan Rd Station and Qianjiang Century City Station



Qianjiang Rd Station, People Square Station and Jianshesan Rd Station
