I heard Nokia rolled out free navigation for all their phones this week with voice navigation... ( you have a N900 right? )

Dual booting, so running them both. Allot of glitches needing fixing though, but at least it proves that in principle it's possible (not that I really care personally)

The free nav isn't yet available for the N900.

I've always been perplexed by the maps and navigation thingy. When I first got the N95 in may 2007 the Navigation was operational, maps could be downloaded directly on the phone, route suggestion was active and the GPS fully working with no need to go on-line. The only thing payable was the voice guidance. Then with an OS update all that dissapeared, not possible to connect to the GPS satelites and at the same time the concept of Assisted-GPS came out.

I don't know who pressured the phone makers to block that, till now it's stupid to have all the hardwares but not be able to use them without a net connection.

I hope what Nokia is doing now will be to actually let us use the GPS navigation option the same way as they did back in 2007.

Is this free GPS navigation service available only on new Nokia phones or even older Nokia phones with GPS and Nokia Maps?

My Nokia 5800 only has GPS mapping without navigation. After I bought it, the navigation edition of this phone was released 3 months later. So I was rather pissed.

We'll know for sure in 12 hours

But I'll be willing to bet it will be a tablet running a modified version of the iPhone OS ( 4,0 ) and be compatible with the old Apps with a 10" multitouchscreen

It will also put a lot of focus on ebooks and digital magazines

And it will have it's own Apps too, very likely advanced productive ones like found in the iLife collection in OS X ( I'm guessing iMovies, iPhoto, iTunes etc.. )

And I have a feelling it will look a lot like the current iPod Touch ( but maybe also with a hint of the next gen iPhone )

Oh and finally, a spy shot have hit the web of what very likely is the prototype for the iSlate/Tablet or whatever it will be called

11hours to the Apple Event

Looks like a disappointment so far ... can't believe they actually designed it as an overblown iPhone ... expected a much better design considering how the iPhone itself is supposed to get a design over haul soon.

^well it is a larger Touch as expected...

Personally I'm super stocked, so far it has been virtually all I wanted out of a tablet - and while we can agree that the design could have been better it is a design that works and looks alright..

^not yet - but it won't be cheap..

Speculated price have been around $800 to $1000 in the US - but I doubt it will go that high..

It looks like a product that would sell at about 5000 DKK, so my US price would be around $600 to $650

I'll post it as soon as they mention it..
