MANILA, Philippines - Mall developer and operator SM Prime Holdings Inc. is opening its 43rd shopping mall in the country, SM City Consolacion in Cebu, on Friday.

The new shopping mall, which has a gross floor area (GFA) of 106,857 square meters, is located along the Cebu North Road, Barangay Lamac, Consolacion, Cebu. This is the second SM mall in Cebu.

"The region of Cebu remains to be a key expansion area for SM malls. This reflects our continued confidence in the prospects of Cebu, given its dynamic population and flourishing business landscape, especially its vibrant export sector, which contributes significantly to the country’s economic growth," said SM Prime President Hans T. Sy, in a statement.

SM City Consolacion will have a SM Department Store, SM Supermarket, as well as fast food chains Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, Red Ribbon, Pizza Hut, KFC, and Mang Inasal.

Restaurants serving Cebuano cuisine, such as Chika-an Sa Cebu and Jonie’s Chicken, can also be found in the mall.

After SM City Consolacion, SM Prime is also constructing a P4.5 billion shopping mall in the reclaimed South Road Properties (SRP). The mall, which is targeted to open in the third quarter of 2014, is part of the 30-hectare mixed use development project of SM Prime in Cebu called SM Seaside City.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, the Henry Sy-led mall developer-operator said SM City Consolacion has a gross floor area of 106,857 square meters and a leasable area of 57,842 square meters, 89 percent of which has already been awarded to various tenants.

"The region of Cebu remains a key expansion area for SM malls. This reflects our continued confidence in the prospects of Cebu, given its dynamic population and flourishing business landscape, especially its vibrant export sector, which contributes significantly to the country’s economic growth," said Hans Sy, SM Prime president.

Major tenants in SM City Consolacion are SM Department Store and SM Supermarket. Other mall tenants are Jollibee, BDO, Watsons, Ace Hardware, National Bookstore, among others.

The mall’s amenities include a Cyberzone; a food court that seats up to 668 diners; four cinemas, and parking slots for over 700 vehicles.

i assumed ang 3rd level ay nandun ang 4 digital cinemas which open

57,842 ang Gross Leasable Area (GLA)...so about 54% for GLA and
46% (49,105 sq.mtrs.) sa open spaces/utility areas etc.

that explains the wide, atrium-like corridors...

they could have narrowed them down to increase GLA but they opted more open spaces...

SM consolacion is about 12 kms from ACC.

SM to SM (consolacion to sm city cebu) is nearer at 10 kms

kung hindi heavy traffic, mga 20 to 30 minute-drive lang from Cebu City to Consolacion

SM Center Pasig is the smallest SM Mall in the Philippines as of this writing, also the only SM Mall without a Cinema.

IMO mas dako pa man gani siguro ni sa SM Iloilo, SM CDO, SM Bacolod (before expansion)... and 20K sq.m. smaller than SM Davao and SM GenSan...

SM Consolacion Cinema 3 (largest with 477 seats), the other Cinemas have a capacity of 333 (P.S. SM City Cebu's Cinemas have a seating capacity of around a thousand each, but the ones at Consolacion are all-digital: sound and picture quality are much, much, much better)
