Phone tower you say? I guess that explains what this is too then.

Ive been wondering about that for some time. By the way, this is Oslo

The district Klara on that picture above really looked different, now it's mainly really large buildings from the 1960's.

Someone has read København før nu og aldrig bind 1

I have never read that CF Hansen was inspired by French Empire, but Classicism.

That thread has some very nice historic paintings of Oslo, but one of them is really unique :

I have though of so many fun ways to reply this, but I guess I just have to jump in it: This is not Oslo. Hence why joamox wrote "Copenhagen" in the post. I fact, Oslo is barely represented in this thread at all. Hence the names of all the other cities in all the other posts.

But cheers. Nothing wrong in being wrong!

what purpose did those telephonetowers serve? i mean i get it had something to do with telephones etc., but what was their exact purpose since they exicted in almost the same form in all 3 major cities?

EDIT: found a bit about it on berlingske.dk:

http://www.berlingske.dk/kultur/det-...lefonen-ringer

Quote:

Ingen kunne ringe i flere uger.
so you actually had the wires running from this tower to the people using the phones? that seems ridiculous! ha. btw, for people who read anish, i like the little remark about the "maurian palace" look of the tower, and how noone was upset by that. bit of a go at people who scream over mosques etc. today i reckon
