Here's a map about the projects mentioned above:

Source

In green: in operation
In yellow: section to be opened this year
In red: to be tendered this year (a section has already been awarded to Astaldi/FCC)
In black: long term plans

They are currently extending M4 with 2 stations to be opened in May-June this year:

Nothing special - just for a peripheral neighbourhood.

In the middle there are informative pannels on Bucharest.

Lovely station designs.

The first design looks pretty good for a station within a peripheral neighbourhood.

^ Thanks.

I am posting now a render of the proposed stations of Brancusi and Eroilor2 on the new line M5 now awarded to Astaldi/FCC:

http://www.anuala.ro/proiecte/2010/s...s35/panou2.jpg

Unfortunatelly, we don't have renders for other stations on new line M5.

Subway to have 3 new main lines by 2020
10.03.11

Gheorghe Udriste, general manager Metrorex, claims that the Bucharest subway will have three new main lines totaling 69 stations by 2020. “For all three new main lines that will be built and gradually put into use by 2020 we need approximately EUR 6.5 bln, funds that will come from the European Investment Bank, Bank of Japan and the Romanian Government; we’ll see who wins the public-private partnership tender for Main Line 7,” Gheorghe Udriste stated for ‘Jurnalul National’ daily.

According to him, construction works on Main Line 5 will start this spring, being financed with a loan from EIB. “We estimate that this line will become operational in 2014-2015. The construction of the three new main lines could be finished by 2020 provided the financing is constant, the Bucharesters patient and the constructors serious,” Udriste stated for the aforementioned daily.

Main Line 6 will connect the ‘Henri Coanda’ and ‘Baneasa’ airports to the subway network. The works, scheduled to start in 2012, could be finished in 2019. Finally, another project consists of building the first intermodal terminal for inter-County transport at the Straulesti Lake.

Today, it was ruled that Aktor's claim against Astaldi/FCC award of mainline 5 was rejected, so Astaldi/FCC remain the contractors for this section and works will probably start this spring.

Astaldi has green light to build EUR 215 mln Bucharest subway line after Aktor appeal ruled out

MARCH 11, 2011 AT 11:04 AM

Italian construction company Astaldi will build the EUR 215 million section of the Drumul Taberei-Pantelimon metro line in Bucharest, after the National Council for Solving Complaints (CNSC) ruled out the complaint of Greek company Aktor, according to Mediafax. Aktor also took part in the bid and challenged the authorities’ decision to choose the consortium led by Astaldi.
Metrorex, the company that manages the Bucharest municipality subway network, received the confirmation from CNSC to continue the auction procedures with the Italian company, which was selected as the main contractor at the end of February.

The joint venture made of Astaldi (with a 39 per cent stake), the Spanish Company FCC and two Romanian companies, Delta ACM and AB Construct will design and construct the structural works for six kilometres of the new metro line connecting Drumul Taberei to Pantelimon, which features nine stations. The section the consortium will build will connect the Doamnei station to the Opera metro station. The works are planned to start in June this year and last until March 2013. The European Investment Bank and state funding will cover the required financing.

Astaldi Group has been active in Romania for more than 20 years in the transport infrastructures sector. At present, the company is upgrading the Bucharest – Constanta railway line, a EUR 178 million project, the Lia Manoliu national stadium in Bucharest, a EUR 140 million contract, the cable-stayed bridge in Basarab -EUR 129 million , sections of the Medgidia –Constanta motorway (EUR 143 million) and the Constanta By-Pass (EUR 104 million). It also works on the third phase of the Otopeni International Airport modernization project. In 2010, the group registered sales worth EUR 2 billion and a 12 percent increase in net profit, up to EUR 62 million , compared with 2009.

Romanian Subway Co Metrorex Signs Contract For Subway Sector Construction

Romanian state-run subway company Metrorex signed a EUR215 million contract with a consortium led by Italian company Astaldi for the construction of Raul Doamnei- Eroilor sector of Bucharest’s new subway mainline.

Construction work will start in about 50 days and the subway sector will be finished in 2014.

The project is financed by the European Investment Bank (50%) and the state budget (50%).

In February, Metrorex awarded the contract to a consortium made up of Astaldi (Italy), FCC (Spain), Delta ACM and AB Construct (Romania).

People close to the matter told MEDIAFAX back then that Greek construction company Aktor, which had made a RON1.009 billion offer, contested the auction.

Astaldi operates in 23 countries and is engaged in several top construction projects in Romania. FCC is present on the Romanian market through FCC Construccion and Alpine. Delta ACM, owned by Florea Diaconu, was set up in 1993 and carries out road repair and construction work.

Bucharest Metro Company METROREX announced a tender for the purchase of 16 new trains to replace the remaining old trains in the Bucharest Metro system. The total estimated cost is EUR 133 million.

I hope they choose Bombardier and assemble them again in Romania, at Electroputere, like the other batches of trains. In total, METROREX will have ordered now 242 new MOVIA trains from Bombardier.

is the section of M4 between Bazilescu and Laminorului also opening on 1 Jul 2011, or does service in that area begin at a later date?

Later on. I think works haven't begun on that section yet. The tunnel is dug, but they have to install all the utilities, mount the tracks, build the stations etc.
