C'mon you ull.

You picked a belter - but most Rugby League games have great atmosphere with 2 sets of very vocal fans. Kids, women and and oldies all lovin it and appreciating not getting ripped off by millionaires. Like football used to be in 1924.

The sheer effort the players put in to this game is eye-popping! I've been watching Hull Fc since 1978 and I'm always impressed with the improvement to the speed and skill levels in the game.

FC SIGN THE NEW KNOCKER

HULL FC: 'Massive move' for Joe Westerman as he signs four-year deal

Joe Westerman has signed for Hull FC as he seeks 'to win trophies and play for England'HULL FC have signed Joe Westerman from Castleford Tigers on a four-year contract – a deal thought to be one of the biggest in the club's history.

The Black and Whites have agreed an undisclosed six-figure sum for the 20-year-old loose forward – which the Mail understands to be in the region of £150,000 – to prise the Tigers' star from the remaining year of his contract at the Jungle.

It follows weeks of speculation about a move for the player, and repeated denials by club officials when asked if a deal was on the cards.

Only earlier this week, coach Richard Agar was quoted in a rugby league paper claiming reports of their interest in Westerman to be 'fantasy'.

He has also repeatedly denied a deal was likely when asked by the Mail.

It is thought Hull were keen to distance themselves from links with Westerman to ensure they didn't get dragged into a bidding war with other clubs chasing the highly-rated player's signature.

Only the £250,000 signing of Alan Hunte from St Helens in December 1997, a deal which also involved Steve Prescott and Simon Booth arriving at the Boulevard, tops the signing announced today.

Westerman, who returns to the club having previously spent a short time at FC as a junior, believes joining Hull will improve him as a player and boost his chances of England representation after being cut from Steve McNamara's initial train-on squad for this year's Four Nations.

"One of the reasons I've signed is to really develop and improve my game and go on to win some trophies and play for England," said Westerman.

"That is with no disrespect to Castleford, but I just felt the time was right to move and I feel Hull are a club where I can realise those ambitions and that is what I want to be involved with.

"This is just massive for me.

"The opportunity to work under Richard Agar and play with players like Mark O'Meley and Craig Fitzgibbon is great for any player and I think this is a great move for me."

Start of a new season, a local well supported rival is the opposition for a tasty night match in this hotbed rugby city. And how many turn up 12,513

even hull's season ticket holders arent interested. i went to the majority of home games in super league until about 2 years ago, but it just got unbearable how dull they became, they make the same mistakes every week and have done since 2007. they're firmly placed as hull's third sports club atm

Good idea. Sell the Kc to the Egyptians, 40m. rebuild The boulevard & craven park 20m each. Create two true community stadiums for the majority of Hulls sport loving citizens.

Why would City need two stadiums?

Hull fc's average Home attendance has increased over the last two seasons, it was let down by the first game of this season.

2009- average home attendance 13,243

2010- average home attendance 13,731

2011- V Leeds 12,513

As dissapointing as that attendance may be, it's surely too early to be making conclusions isn't it?

I'd be very suprised if F.C's average attendance drops by over 1,000 from 2010 to 2011.

I think both sets of fans will still be getting over the financial hit of cardiff. A very expensive season opener for all SL fans.

Hardly anyone from Hull went to Cardiff.

Strange statement. How would you know? was you there? Did you personally count them or conduct a census?
and who were all those people dressed in black/white, red/white. Were they sheep?
I know, you don't know anyone who went, so therefore nobody went. I get it now.
Maybe the whole event was staged like the moon landing.

I do actually, a group of ten friends who support KR, I have seen the videos of them singing and dancing in an empty stadium while the game was on.

I actually don't blame people for not attending, the whole thing is a farce and to play a derby game hundreds of miles from its home city is a sham. I was more arguing against your "fans will still be getting over the financial hit of cardiff" bollocks.

City played Leeds the other week to a full house, same stadium on a midweek work night. Both teams playing in the second tier of English football. A few weeks later two SUUUUUUPPPPER League teams play in a so called season opener and it's half full.

So you will be aware that there were a few thousand of hulls citizens in cardiff, your Ten friends will confirm this.
I think everyone agrees playing this event in a stadium that big looks awfull. 45,000 empty seats. The event should be moved up north to a more suitable venue.
I was merely stating that the cost of a weekend in Cardiff, for the season opener, against your biggest rivals was more appealing and worth missing the leeds v hull fc game. The same for both sets of fans. This was just a suggestion as I have no idea why the attendance was low.
Still the attendance wasn't that bad, and i think we have established that Hull fc do not attract bigger crowds at the KC than Hull city, that was never in question.

The Leeds game against City is the seasons premier fixture and will always draw their biggest crowd. In super league the premier fixture is Hull FC v Hull KR
