This facade is embarassing for Rome. Why does it still stand?

The facade was destroyed and rebuilt during fascism, many people actually consider Teatro Argentina the "official opera theater" in Rome, but of course there are many groups (also on the facebook ) asking to build a more coherent facade for a city like Rome...
And yes, that picture is La Scala theater with a photographical effect

Teatro Olimpico Vicenza. Andrea Palladio. 1580.

The scene that you can see in the first image is fixed and it was built in the cinquecento. it has a fake perspective, showing an alley as it was very long, but it is an effect. in the reality it is long just a few meters, but uphill.

Yes, I was suspecting the same thing... Do you have any idea which theatre this is? Very impressive.

I have no idea but I do not think is an italian building even if the structure shows some "italianate" style.
it is not La Fenice in Venice, it is not S.Carlo, it is not Comunale in Bologna (this latter a wonderful building!)

Wonderful thread! I discovered very interesting building especially in Germany, in US and in south America!
can I ask to the forumer to put in evidence the period of the buildings? very often Theatre building have been erected in "classic" or eclectic style, even if built in the XX century. So it is crucial to indicate the period. thanks.
