I am looking at the cities such as Belgrade where they fly twice a day. So if I book with them I should arrive around 6pm @BEG which is not so bad. I just think that early departure would give them a better chance to snatch some Us/Canada bound traffic from the Balkans. They probably have decent feed already from Asian/African feeder airports.

Turkish Airlines

Hello

I will be taking a trip to Tel Aviv in August, and while most of the time I usually fly the Lufthansa group I am considering trying Turkish Airlines Business Class this time around. I tried to look for some information online, but my search was pretty much fruitless. I was wondering if anybody from the flyertalk community traveled with Turkish Airlines to Tel Aviv in business class and can shed some light on what can be expected.

You will be on a 737NG that come with a real (2+2) seats in the front. That has to be top notch service on a narrowbody plane.

I flew Emirates 2 years ago and I don't remember that it was possible.
The best thing is it was for free on my flight with Turkish Airlines.

Btw I found this:

Emirates, the world's largest customer of the Airbus A380 just announced that its entire fleet of super jumbos will be outfitted with in-flight Internet and mobile phone technology by 2012.vThe first Emirates A380 with OnAir service will be ready by June 2012...

The first airframes in the EK fleet to have internet availability were the 345s, and yes that was a few years ago. Obviously not all of EKs airframes have it yet, just like they're 332, and 343s seats are way out of date cause some of the aircraft are already 15 years old.

Altin Turkish 332, 343s are out fitted with the older interior, but the new 333, and 77Ws have the new interior. Same goes for they're newer 738s, and 320 family. Keep that in mind the next time you travel so you can get a better product for the money spend.

You are missing CGK. CGK is a direct route as well although it is a 1 stop flight from IST via SIN.

Well, not that I care, but the A321 they have been using for the last 2 years on the IST - DXB - IST, do have big personal TV screens and TK's new infotainement system that is not bad.

Btw I know this is not the best place to ask, but I should be flying to BEG soon. I am thinking of flying TK via IST to BEG in premium economy with TK from YYZ. Do you think it will more comfortable flight over lets say flying regular economy with an average european airline? It's a longer trip over casual EU stop, but I think that may not be an issue if I fly P/E with TK which is priced very reasonable. I never flew via IST, so I want to give it a try.

The real question remains, is that little bit of comfort worth the extra flight time ?

Unless it's a true flat bed, nothing is very comforting after two hours of flight.

My two cents.

IST is in a very dear need of an extension or a completely new terminal. The current one that opened in 2000 has really reached the peak.

The decission to remove the security gates before the boarding gates and have only 6 gates at the entrance of the Terminal (transit area) is horrendeous and creates huge crowds cramped in a small place at peak time.

I almost lost my connection when I arrived from Dubai in the morning time

Istanbul will get another new airport, the government will soon announce a tender for a new airport that will be located north of the European part of the city. The first phase of the new airport that will handle 90 million passengers per year should open in 2015.

I would prefer a new Airport instead of Atatürk Airport.
A new big (+100 Million) Airport on the european side and closing Atatürk Airport.

I think three Airport are unnecessary! If Sabiah Gökcen will be extended(they should do it), two Airport will be fine for Istanbul!
