My two cents.
The bets bet would be to fly to IST and return back via EU to avoid backtracking.

I think Turkish is ripe to order the A380. They have made a good brand, product, and the numbers, and additional network expansion justify a future purchase.

They have recently said that after comparing the A380 with the 747-8I they have come to the conclusion that they are not interested in ordering any very large airplanes at the moment. The capacity constraints at Atatürk Airport are also to be taken into account, there aren't enough gates to handle widebody airplanes.

They are not ordering any 787 or A350 for that matter, claiming that the uncertainty of both programs as the main reason to wait.

If they are going to order or lease extra widebodies soon it will be 777s or A330s.

That's right. TK will need to wait the third airport to be completed before they order any wide-body aircraft. I think there is no other airport that works over-capacity like Atatürk. Istanbul will reach 45 million at the end of this year but its foreseen capacity is around 20 million.

Congrats to the orders. I hardly see Havana and Caracas really working. I personally think they will only last a couple of months and then be money losing routes.

Several European carriers have regular flights to Caracas, it's not that an exotic route. Maybe they hope that Turkish will be popular as a non western alternative for the Venezuela - Middle East route. The country is still a major oil exporter, that should generate enough traffic.

Turkish seems still interested in buying a couple of 747-8s or A380s for some of the busiest routes. But with such expansion plans it's more logical for them to buy smaller wide-body planes first.

There was also news earlier this week about a tie-up between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa. President Erdogan even talked about a possible merger, although that could have been a miss translation. It would be very complicated because of EU ownership rules anyway. But it does look like both airlines will be looking in working more closely in several fields.

A new big (+100 Million) Airport on the european side and closing Atatürk Airport.

I think three Airport are unnecessary! If Sabiah Gökcen will be extended(they should do it), two Airport will be fine for Istanbul!
I think one big airport would be better. I travelled with TK from Mumbai-Istambul Ataturk and then IST-Amsterdam. I saw a lot of non-turkish people flying with TK, changing in ataturk. TK is becoming an airline for a lot of foreign people since they have reasonable prices, good service and a lot of destinations available. For a lot of travellers, IST is not a destination airport, but a bridge between two flights. I think TK is focusing on this, so they are atracting non turkish travellers, maybe because the inner turkish market still is not enough to cover TK expansion. Having TK fleet in two different airports will force passangers to change the airport and spend a lot of time. It would refrain people from travelling with TK. One huge airport will facilitate and reinforce TK as a global airline.
