I had a look a the new extension on Google maps, and saw this bridge. Does anyone know what it is for? It seems to be totally pointless, I can't see any new highways or anything in the area which it could be for

Metro extension to Riba-roja del Túria (line 9). Test runs have started.

Class 4300 EMU, the first one to arrive at the new Riba-roja del Túria station.
Not the first train ever though, since this used to be an Iberian-gauge Cercanías Renfe line.

Metro extension to Riba-roja del Túria (line 9).

More images of the test runs.

Via Libre magazine states that the extension will open in March.
In the future, line 9 should be extended towards Vilamarxant, following the part of the old Renfe line that won't reopen yet (it went till Llíria).
When will that happen? Good question...

Good news! However the location of the last station of the first phase is really disappointing. Instead of being in the location of the old Renfe station in the centre of Riba-roja (which closed in 2005), the new line only reaches the outskirts of town. Therefore I doubt of the usefulness of the new line until the second phase is built and the line reaches Vilamarxant.

I think the main problem is the cost of the new station in Riba-roja, as it will have to be underground, because it is not likely that the town accepts a surface station after the old Renfe line was dismantled and an underground "metro" station was promised.

We'll see. After all, it will be their only station for some time. But no one can deny that reopening the old station would have been perfect for patronage.

That's one of the railway problems in Spain.
Neighbours have grown ill-accustomed to the "surface urban rail annoys" thing. I'd call it "bury-itis". They would happily accept a tramway, though.

Politicians shouldn't have promised so many things.

Metro extension to Riba-roja del Túria (line 9).

Images of La Presa station.

Very spartiate, but there are money constraints:

Ok, so it's open.

I really like thi Metro of Valencia.

The stations are like other Spaincitys really clean.

In Germany ist is a shame what they do with their metrostations!

I really enjoy the Metro every time I travel to Valenciaa
