I just noticed this comment but I think it's the dumbest comment I've ever heard in my life. First of all, you can't really mix international terminal with domestics. They have different procedures and protocols. Secondly, I think the additional building was meant for Arrival so, somehow, both international and the domestic operations are still in the same roof. From the pictures shown, I didn't think one wing looks alot better than the first. The terminal looks nice altogether really. It's a very unique building. It's vigan inspired it seems like. Sorry for being too forward on my comment.

Actually, CRK mixes international and domestic passengers into a single pre-departure area.

Yes, I know and I'm sure it's the case in CRK and LAO. Its a smaller terminal, it just make sense to do it that way. I just commented on that assumptions about " filipino mentality, the idea of the discrimination of filipinos by another filipino so they built a better terminal for an exclusive use of the foreigners... blah blah blah blah blah " when the truth is, the extension was the new arrival section of the airport and not an international wing.

Okay, I was gonna ask this question in Ozamis Airport thread but I realized that it is more appropriate here.

What local carriers serves loag currently? Is it only Cebu Pacific and PAL never returned there after that Farrinas incident?

What international carriers serve Loag? charter or regular service....

Thank you!

BTW, I hope someday Laoag airport authorities would consider changing the flooring of this terminal and also, the glass diveders as well. The red floor tiles looks nice and clean but it somewhat giving you the feeling that you're in a Police station. Maybe a nice white shinny floor tiles while the glass dividers would also be change to something better without those dark brown painted glass frames. Glass would still be good but hopefully a more modern looking ones.

The schedule tells me Sky Pasada serves LAO-BSO twice weekly. And I believe LAO-MFM is a scheduled charter.

Thanks for the response guitarrose and kiretoce.

Yeah, that's the most modern control tower I've seen in Philippine aviation thread so far.

"atleast binawi nila sa control tower...LOL I'm not saying LAO is an ugly airport okay? just that the control tower looks alot modern than the terminal itself that they don't really match since LAO terminal has that old vigan touch in it's design."

Was there 2 weeks ago, and yes the terminal is totally not up to par. Horrible to pack in people with hardly room to move. But the the tower is definitely well designed. They should build another terminal building with more room, and tear down the old one.

They just built an extension for the arrival area not too long ago... I actually like how their airport is built, its very exotic, its an appropriate design for the area. Being "at par" can be interpreted in many different ways, depending on how a person see or looks at it. For instance, that airport in Cambodia that was posted in his thread before doesn't look anything like Kuala Lumpur, Changi and such, Cambodia airport looks has that design that represents its city yet the amenities of most modern airports are there, and I am not talking about just concessionares and such but whatever makes a terminal functional together with modern safety equipments, security systems et al.

I did mention that the flooring needs to be replaced so that it would make the interior looks clean, orderly, modern while they keep most of the actual design.

I just mentioned something about the Control tower just because it didn't match the design of the structure.

I would take your word though when it comes to congestions in the terminal especially during its peak hours since I have never been in LAO before. I just thought they addressed that with the recently built portion of the terminal UNLESS, that portion is not openned yet. If that is the case, then that explains the congestion while you were there.

Open na yung new arrival building pero mix pa po yung domestic at international but eventually they will separate it kasi under going construction pa ang international section. The old terminal building is exclusively for departure separate na ung domestic at international.

About the control tower, that was built by a japanese firm (Sumitomo) and all the materials used excluding sand, gravel and cement were all imported from japan.

One thing more if you noticed, the control tower was built at the western side of the runway opposite of the terminal building (different from a typical airport layout na yung terminal bldg and control tower ay nasa isang side lang). It is because during the implementation of the project in 2001, there was already a rehabilitation project worth P2.8B approved by NEDA-ICC in 1988 and funds will be sourced from a German company.Sad to say hindi po nag materialize because of strong opposition from the populace that will be affected by the upgrading.

Late last 2008, china harbour corp personnel conducted site survey already intented for the upgrading of the airport. Sana this time it will prosper

Whenever I see the facade of LAO, I'm always reminded of the Savannah Visitors Center and History Museum. It used to be an old train station before they converted and renovated the building.
