Along with the economy recovers and the demand of air travel, Cebu Pacific will launch the Macau - Laoag route on September 20, 2010.
The departure time is in every Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:40pm, and the arrival time is in every Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays at 2:05am. Including this new destinations, there are a total of 13 flights weekly to and from Macao to the Philippines operated by the Cebu Pacific Airlines for the passengers among Manila, Clark and Tuguegarao and Laoag.

In order to cope with the air travel demand as well as reduce the impact of VIVA airline’s bankrupted, Macau International Airport will actively develop the mainland and international markets, continuing to work with the Civil Aviation Authority of Macau and airport operators to strengthen the communication and liaison with airlines, to fully support them for route development, reduce operating costs, improve the quality and efficient services.

We believe that with further recovery of the global economy, Macau International Airport will certainly attract more airlines to Macau in priority on their route development plan with the perspective of local airlines foreseeing the image of Macau as "the Center of International Travel and Leisure".

Sana nga maging regular scheduled flight in the near future.
Actually, matagal na ang route na eto dito sa laoag, kaso nga lang "on and off" ang schedule.
Previously, this route was serviced by AIR MACAU.

How is this airport doing after Hongkong Express and other airlines cancelled their flights due to the "Masacre of Manila" ? Could it recover ?

More budget airlines needed at Laoag airport
Thursday, 18 November 2010 21:01 Leilani G. Adriano / Correspondent

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—While preparing the blue prints of this province’s new face to the world, the Laoag International Airport eyes more budget airlines to provide passenger service to the growing number of tourists and visitors coming in.

With the holiday season fast approaching, more and more air passengers are expressing their wish for more budget airlines to service the Manila-Laoag routes since bookings made as early as November are already full.

Architect Jun Palafox in his capacity as principal architect and urban planner of Ilocos Norte’s major tourism master plan said these problems have to be addressed soon by inviting more passenger airlines to service this northern gateway of Luzon.

At present, daily flights are offered by at least two airlines servicing the Laoag airport round the clock. Several chartered flights to Hong Kong and Kaohsiung have been temporarily stopped on account of the hostage-taking incident in Manila in August.

Citing the tourism market potential of Ilocos Norte, Palafox said this province has everything to make things happen from its vast natural resources, heritage sites, staff and competent visionary leaders to implement Metro Ilocos Norte’s master plan, a major vision of Gov. Imee R. Marcos’s administration.

Part of the project phase I of Metro Ilocos Norte’s master plan is to improve the Laoag airport’s facility and to have added-value services to airport passengers like the establishment of shopping centers, restaurants and other amenities.

Marcos reported that the province is expecting about P50 million from the national government to improve the airport.

Nice photos of the airport but I find it odd for Laoag to have a narrow tarmac( aircrafts park parallel to the terminal)
Despite having a long wide runway. Any explanations why the apron was made as such.

As no one is answering Kiretoces question - I tend to give an unusual answer : no need to reply as due to lesser traffic there will not be any masterplan implemented anyhow.

What a shame though....

The roof of that old terminal building needs repaint or new roof. I wonder why they leave that off when the terminal extension has been finished over a year ago I believe.

According to some personnel at the airport whom i I have asked, the existing terminal was only temporary (they cannot build the terminal na mas malayo mula sa dati nyang lokasyon because the lot infront is a private property), it was only built just to accommodate visitors during the wedding of Irene Marcos Araneta, daughter of then Pres. Marcos. The plan was to build a better terminal at the northern part . In the mid 80's when you go to the airport you'll see a rendering of the proposed new terminal posted at the vicinity but Pres. Marcos was ousted from power during EDSA 1 and the plan to construct a new terminal failed. The Government(post marcos administrations) just improved/extended the existing terminal. Maybe that explains why the apron is too narrow.

Thanks guitarose, that quite explains it. By the way since the airport is starting to receive more international flights and later on that ramp will be cramped, is there any appropriation already set aside for its expansion,
