Yeah, i don't like these 'deformed' looking towers, i prefer some slender tower. Come on China, you can do better!!!

This one is likely to be the final design. 388m they say. Pic by jeans-jeans.

Nanjing Suning Tower
Nanjing, China
competition

The structural system for the 82 story - 388m Suning Nanjing Tower is an innovative exterior diagrid system linked to a central concrete core wall system through periodic steel outrigger trusses. This efficient expressed structural system for the design was developed through collaboration with Foster + Partners. The mixed-use structure with residential stacked over hotel incorporates outrigger truss linkages at node points on the exterior and at mechanical levels to minimize impact to interior spaces. Due to the rigid response of the diagrid system, the design was also checked against higher seismic event loading.

The tower will utilize composite construction to maximize efficiency and speed of construction. Primary elements of the exterior steel diagrid system are encased in high strength concrete while intermediate vertical steel exterior columns collect and distribute load back to the main diagrid elements. The gravity system of the tower will consist of conventional composite steel floor framing that will span between the concrete core and the exterior diagrid.

The building system was run through optimization scripts to ensure the minimum amount of material is utilized to meet the stiffness and strength constraints of the code.

Have to agree. Very disappointing especially to be the star tower of Xinjiekou. Though most towers end up looking much better in reality than on renderings imo, so we can still keep our fingers crossed.

The engineering design kind of reminds about CCTV tower in Beijing

So this one may be the final design since it's being displayed at the walls of one of the Suning plots. I'm so sorry for AEDAS, their designs were the best. On the other hand these ones are very decent too.

Pic by manlingkun.

Xinjiekou Tower. 388m, 82 floors, by Foster+Partners. Height confirmed by Halvorson+Partners website.
