OMG...that's really a nightmare! How could that happen?
Could they put out the flames, before too much of the interior was damaged?

Ooo, noo! I heard about it in our newspapers! So tragic!

Media here in Serbia reported that 90% of castle furniture and valuables are saved.

Is that true?

Indeed, horrible news from Slovakia. As I remember reading, accident was caused by some kids who were lighting up cigarettes, and the fire then spread from nearby grass on the castle. The important collections and rooms were rescued fortunately.

Intruder with a camera.
After the WWII there was placed home for mentally disabled youth, but it's been abandoned since the new millenium. Pretty sad, taking into account this is the largest and probably most beautiful baroque mansion in Slovenia. There are renovation plans for new, proper function, total cost along with renovation of the gardens is estimated around 10 million € - the country now waits for an investitor willing to take it over.

There are more fortified churches in the former Grand Duchy of Lithuania,
as this type of church was very common in these lands in the 14th-16th centuries.
Besides, this is unique example (there are some more in the Eastern Poland lands,
what was part of the GDL, in Vilnius, etc.) of Orthodox church, built in Gothic style,
such thing You can see only in the this region. Also, Easternmost Gothic in the World

Here in Czech republic we received a lot of media coverage of the disaster. ***king gypsie kids did that, they had illegal camp right below the castle for years. Stupid dumb ****, I am so angry! The castle managed to withstand all those centuries and many sieges, yet it was destroyed by sum dumb kids!

The reason the castle was burned down was that some 11 and 12-year olds wanted to smoke, so with a burning cigaret which excidently fell down into the grass, the gras burned and leaded to the castle so the Krasna Horka Castle flamed and burned down......

The danger of smoking....

The churches with the towers on the corners in Belarus and Lithuania look really relative to eachother.
