Visited your FlickeR page, and I have to say nice pics! Did you get a chance to visit the inside of Peles Castle? Also, how did you find your stay in Romania overall?

Yes I visited the inside of Peles Castle and even paid extra to take pictures, but then an error damaged my memory card and I still haven't been able to recover the pictures

(they r probably lost forever) Actually if there is anyone who knows some good recovery programs that can help me to recover them let me know

my stay in Romania was lovely because i had a really busy schedule, stayed in a great hostel and met some nice people

I didn`t heard Elena Ceausescu had resided there but I`m not sure. History is not my favorite, better you wait someone who knows to answer.

No. The Ceausescus were notorious for not giving a crap about history and historical buildings, often tearing stuff down or remodeling them. As a result, the curators of Peles Castle told the Ceausescus that Peles Castle was suffering from a fungus that was affecting the wood (which was true) and dangerous to people (which was not true). The Ceausescus were hypochondriacs (Nicolae Ceausescu hated air conditioners and always had them turned off as he believed that they would give him a cold), and as a result, Peles Castle was pretty much avoided by them, except for one or two occasions when they entertained some dignitaries there.

Personally, I believe the curators deserve a medal for that. I can't imagine what a moron like Ceausescu would have done had he decided to make that his summer residence or such.

Hi, hellospank25.
I wanna thank you also for the pictures of Braşov. Fortunately many cities in Transylvania have been spared of the architectural taste of Nicolae Ceauşescu. Unfortunately Bucharest had no chance. Still, few beautiful churches escaped, some of them literally resettled behind commie buildings using wheels and rails (!).

awesome images, this is real Romania! I have also visited also these places with my Romanian wife... :p I recommend Sighisora, it is medieval town!
