the aging economy of Europe and the Americas is unstoppable. heard on TV the demand for nurses abroad will remain high in the next 10 years pa raw..

^ its the pay i guess. the start here in bay area, california is around $31-35, double that on grave yard shift. all you need is 2 years and pass. you can do more than that if you want to proceed on other specialties.

Nursing, for Filipinos living in the Philippines, is an easy way to become an OFW. Because nurses are in such high demand in the US and the US schools are not able to supply enough nurses to satisfy the demand, it is one of the professions where the US Government is actually allowing more people from abroad to come in (normally here in the US an employer must demonstrate the need for a particular employee in order for the employer to hire from overseas-- nurses we all know we need them). Kaya ang isip ngayon sa Pilipinas ay kung gusto mo pumunta sa States na hindi illegal at hindi turista para magtrabaho, mas madali kung nars ka.

^ The thing with institutions teaching Nursing, they hire Nurses with a Ph.D. for full-time faculty positions, hence the dearth in Faculty/Source/Teachers in Nursing. Nurses don't proceed to aim for higher degrees and teach in academia since it does not pay the same as when they work in hospitals or health care agencies.

But as @Rusty18 said, the demand for nurses in America continues to be high because of the aging population and the fact that people here always have to work with no househelp or anyone left at home to look after aging parents. Hence, either homehealth care or hospices for aging folks.

ADMU's campus is really beautiful! Wish I went there but unfortunately my parents said "Hell No!" I went as far as applying and got accepted without their knowledge but they found out and ended my dreams of attending college there.

Why wouldn't your parents allow you to enter Ateneo? I was accepted in Ateneo, UP, DLSU, and UST, but my Mom insisted on UP even if I had merit scholarship in Ateneo, mainly, because of the cost. If my father had his way, he'd rather I go to an exclusive girls' college. I had to put my foot down on that. My mind needs to expand and that entails exposure to a wide variety of people and experiences.

My parents wanted me to continue my education in an SDA (Seventh-Day Adventist) College since I've been schooled my whole life in the system, so after much protest I was shipped off to Adventist University of the Philippines (formerly called Philippine Union College) in Silang, Cavite. But I only attended that school during my freshman year, after that I emigrated to the US.

Thanks Lili. Just an amateur. Bought the camera because of my firstborn daughter. Might as well take pics of places (help preserve the memory).
