My ideal skyscraper would be highly futuristic. I don't really like the concept of windows, so mine wouldn't have any...instead, it would be built solidly out of concrete. It would be a good 600 - 750 m high. It would have many spires, each dedicated for residential space, scientific research, education, technological development, entertainment, recreation, etc.The central spire would house all administrative functions as well as the parliament. It would have both stationary and mobile defenses. This is what it would look like:

4 times higher than it is wide, height isnt important but number of stories has to be over 50 to look impressive IMO. Has to have some colour differences in cladding, which while i like glass can leave buildings quite plain, so a variation in materials as well. Some kind of spire or artistic roof structure.

mine is more of a complex of 4 towers, each shorter tower 2/3 of the taller ones height.

height (roof): 4200 ft (1280.16 m)
height (spire/pinnacle): 4500 ft (1371.6)
floors: 321
shape: simple swirl inward to point (like the kingdom tower fused with the shanghai tower)
location: new york city, hudson river on an island
purpose: national icon, city in city, economic stimulator

height: 3000 ft (914.4 m)
floors: 210
shape: triangular footprint with 4 towers
purpose and locations are the same

height: 2000 ft (609.6 m)
floors: 130
shape: hexagonal base to rectangular top
purpose and locations are the same

height: 1333 ft (406.3 m)
floors: 100
shape: simple tower block
purpose and locations are the same

Their exact relative locations are similar to the world trade center, like a spiral that goes down with the towers.

Hmm, that's a tough one. I've thought up two, though the first one is much more realistic.
Height-2,800 feet, no spire
Floors-150
Shape-Square shaped base, with Pyramid-shaped crown starting at about 2500 feet

This one is more of a fantasy, but..
Height-21,120 feet roof, or Approximately 4 miles, no spire
Floors-About 500
Shape-Rectangular
Purpose-Would house a miniature city, would have restaurants, stores, banks, but the majority of space would be for residential use.

Taller version of the Chrysler Building, 'cause it doesn't get any more beautiful than this skyscraper.

Here is a new design for the fourth tower

height (roof): 1333 ft (406.3 m)
height (antenna): 1850 ft (563.9 m)
floors: 100
shape: simple tower block
purpose and locations are the same

And here is an image of all the towers.

I got the most details for a pretty realistic complex of skyscrapers.

the triple tower would require a very confusing elevator system. with 3 different elevator banks I can see how people would get on the wrong elevator and end up looking out the window at the tower they are supposed to be in.
