Madrid didnt receive money from UE because its rent is over 130% of european average. I can understand that other people can feel envy from spanish development, because it's true, we are getting wealthier and powerful

A bit tired of listening to this kind of comments in every single thread about Spain.

Next time your people feels in the mood of conquering the whole Europe, just think it twice, maybe you´ll lose again and you must keep on paying the bill for another 60 or 70 years.

Since Spaniards still seem to feel the need to tumble over each other in condemning 'so that's where all the EU money goes to'-posts, I'll just ask my question again...

Right now 2 metro lines will stop in Chamartin: Linea 1 and Linea 10.

That 'future line' of the image should be the 'M-40 metro line', a project to connect approx. 25 stations quite far from the city centre using a semicircular line. It receives that name for the M-40 ring highway.

And the other planned line must be related with the Operacion Chamartin, the project to build several skyscrapers in the north part of Chamartin Station after burying the railways lines.

@Isek: This forum is about infrastructure projects. Don't hijack the thread.

Thank you!

So - this 'M 40 line' should become a new ring line around Madrid? Any idea when this might happen (i.e. in the next four years, or later)?

We have Local and Regional Elections in May, so it's time of promises that are not always carried out. After them, the winner will start to define the next Metro expansion. Now we only have some ideas, promises and dreams.

Anyway, that 'M-40 line' will be a expansion of the Line 11 to the north (more than 20 km), crossing all the East side of the city. As you say, it will be a kind of new ring line covering new areas that are quite far from the most dense network.

Here you can see a general idea about it:

Cheers.

Right - I saw that once on a schematic map with planned lines.

Let's just wait and see if this line gets realised - in regard of the pace of construction of the past 10 or so years, I believe it will...

We are in 2007, not 2002. Besides, this money is from whole Spain and the repartition is according to the rent and madrid was over of european average in 2002.
You pay money to Spain poorest region, but we sell Germany tecnology (Siemens,...) so your money go back and your industry can continue... One example, we have a very good quality tecnology of trains (TALGO) but we buy german siemens as a go-back money. So it's a little bit tricky and sorry, but this argument seems to be simple and superficial
