Such a beautiful metro. Any city would be extremely lucky to have this.

The new map is good, but very sterile. It would be a lot easier for tourists, but for metro-freaks like us it isn't very interesting.

I like the old map!

Aeropuerto T4 Station (L8)

Aeropuerto T4 station (Line 8) opens today at 3pm.
Now you can go directly from any terminal of Barajas Airport (T1, T2, T3, T4) to downtown.

That light panel in Chamartin station is just gorgeous! I saw a pic in the newspaper today but didnt know what station was it, now i cant wait to visit it. The expansion is simply incredible, theyre opening it week after week and still light tram and more line expansions wait to be inaugurated ahead. The only think i dont like are that bright red/orange/yellow walls theyre installing in some stations, they hurt the eye. BTW, the CTBA complex lacks an own station, what a pity. But congratulations to ourselves, we have one of the best metro systems in the whole world.

Metro Madrid: 278,6km

Due to the last inagurated stretchs, Metro Madrid has 278,6km of full Metro.

So, only 3,8km pending to be opened in this Metro Expansion Plan 2003-2007 to have the definitive figure of 282,45km of full Metro.

Congratulations Madrid!!! A great bet for the Public Transport indeed!!!

Interesting. Moscow Metro is 278,8 km right now. But it will reach 285,52km by July-August and 294,02km by the end of 2007.

Don't worry. The next four-year plan will probably result in dozens of kilometers more added to the Madrid network, surpassing Moscow once again. By 2030, the network will probably be Europe's largest.

Nice, but Madrid expansion is the fastest one. Madrid is a half of Moscow and there are 13 tube lines. They are constantly opening new stations. When las weekend i stayed there, was incredible. They are constructing Metro Norte, Metro Este and enlarging different lines. They renewed the old lines too.

Moscow has plans, Madrid actually builds. Though I'm curious what the next run of four-year plans will bring...
