If it's obvious that Villa Park cannot ever be expanded again, then maybe Aston Villa are just better off building a brand-new stadium. There's probably not room for one, though.

I grew up going to football stadiums, now I (and my sons) often go to souless arenas. This along with De Kuip the Mestalla and Goodson Park are what get my spine tingling, Villa Park is a wonderful stadium, old enough and modern enough and reeks of FOOTBALL.

What they've managed to do in the rebuild is build new stands in the early 1990s which evoke the ones they replaced. |

Its modern, big and one of the few real 'old ladies' of the game still going strong. I'd love to see the north bank rebuilt (al la the world cup bid plans) or at least the corners filled, but thats just for aesthetic reasons and not necessary with current attendences being as they are. |

True. Still, at least it's being talked about now by the likes of Villa and the Scottish Premier League clubs, so that's certainly a positive thing. Whether any of this will end up becoming a reality remains to be seen, but I'll keep my fingers crossed that is does. Here's an example of the seating/standing system in question:

We need other clubs to add to the tiny bit of momentum started in Scotland and by Villa. I would absolutely love it if the single tier stand in the new Spurs stadium could be a safe standing, for example. That would amazing! Love Villa Park too, as others have said, it's a proper football ground. Should be making my first trip to it when Spurs play Villa in May. |

And as EJG says, if/when it gets built, the single-tier stand at the new WHL would be a perfect candidate for this kind of thing. |

I think the safe standing would be fantastic it would bring back a 90 minute non-stop atmosphere that is badly lacking in England right now. Could you use the safe standing on upper tiers?

love villa park, with all these new builds and more new builds planned its nice to have some historic venues kept, the FA should never have moved FA Cup semi's from Villa Park best place to host them in middle of country, hope they finish the ground soon filling in corners and new north stand etc
and if Villa can champion the return to safe standing then all the better

There are 48'000 reasons why Wembley is a better semi-final venue than Villa Park.

The main reason is so the FA can try and pay off the debt from building the new Wembley. Money talks.

Wembley should only be for the final only, the fa make enough money as it is should have kept the traditions of the cup but suppose every thing changes
