Just Lizzy (3.15km), Vicky (3.17km) and Ellie (entire second bore - about 1km) to go.

The Queens (Elizabeth and Victoria) seem to be in some sort of temporal hold at Whitechapel - could have sworn they were there or thereabouts 6 months ago.

It's a bit vague at the moment, but according to a local London newspaper, you can see some of the Crossrail station (so long as you pre-book) later this year:-

The station viewings are among more than 800 buildings and sites open for the public's eyes on September 20 and 21 - which will also include Moorgate and Farringdon Crossrail stations.

Crossrail tours can be booked via eventbrite.co.uk from September 1 and a full list of buildings is available on August 15 via londonopenhouse.org.

GREEN LIGHT FOR CROSSRAIL IMPROVEMENTS AT EALING BROADWAY STATION
Thursday 14th August 2014

Proposals for an overhaul of Ealing Broadway station as part of Crossrail upgrades have been approved by Ealing Council’s Planning Committee

The new station, designed by Bennetts Associates, will have a long, curved canopy running the length of the forecourt that will reflect the prominence and importance of the station building. The dated fašade will be replaced with a new glass structure and a new entrance twice the size of the existing one, giving the building a much larger, brighter feel.

- etc.

Nine-day part-closure of London Bridge Station begins on Saturday
Tuesday 19 August 2014

Part of the new ground-level concourse at London Bridge pictured in March this year

A nine-day part-closure of London Bridge Station begins this Saturday, with no First Capital Connect or Southern trains until Monday 1 September

The part-closure is the latest milestone in the rebuilding of the station as part of the Thameslink Programme.

"London Bridge is one of the country's busiest stations and we're rebuilding it piece by piece to transform north-south travel through London," said Nicky Hughes, Network Rail's head of communications for London and the South East.

...

A summary of the key changes 23 to 31 August

First Capital Connect Thameslink route services will continue to operate between Bedford and Brighton and will be diverted via Elephant & Castle instead of serving London Bridge.
Journey times between East Croydon and Blackfriars will be extended by up to 15 minutes.

Southern services will not operate to and from London Bridge and a revised service will be in operation across the network.

Southern services will not operate between No rwood Junction and London Bridge and between Crystal Palace and London Bridge.

Southern services via Peckham Rye will operate to and from South Bermondsey.

Some trains will be diverted to Victoria

Hi!
I'm a Catalan boy, and in May of this year I visited the City of London. The last day, I walked in Oxford St, and I saw the construction of Tottenham Court Rd station of Crossrail.
When I arrived to Barcelona, I searched information about the project of Crossrail and my reaction was OMG
But since the day when I searched about the project, I have a question: the trains will be automatic? Or the conduction will be manual with a driver?

Sorry for my poor english and cheers.

Trains will be driven normally except for in the core section where they will be driven using an ERTMS derrived ATO system most likely that used on Thameslink since that too will have to interface with normal signalling. There will be a driver onboard for the entire journey however the trains will be DOO so no guard. The trains will be fitted with normal BR signalling equipment (AWS & TPWS but no ATP for the Western Region since network rail hope to re-signal the main line with ERTMS)

Hope that helps.

New Entrance for Hanwell Station
13 August 2014

Existing station entrance at Hanwell station

Accesss from Station Approach to be restored

Hanwell Station is about to become more accessible to commuters with its second entrance to reopen again for the first time since it was bricked up in the 1970s.

From September work will begin on the ú300,000 project to revive the abandoned entrance on Station Approach. The work also includes new paving, upgraded lighting, new CCTV cameras, a new canopy, cycle parking and new seating.

The second entrance was originally closed amid security fears, but the area has since changed and restoring the original design was identified as a key priority to improve access to the station and ease commuter congestion
