Ceddi plaza is really very small and mediocre at best, it is not a shopping mall!

Nigeria can do better than that

as for the other shopping centre it is an architectural eye-sore from the outside, the design is shockingly clumsy...(sorry, everything else would be a lie for my critical mind). However, I will have to see the inside first before I pass my final judgement.

Abuja Zoo, Stadium and Millenium Park are good and truly organized and well-planned..

Tbite, you know what I mean when I am critical, you have been to Asia and you live in OZ...you know that Nigeria can and MUST do much much much better to play in that league where I want it to be. Being happy with what has been achieved so far would be fatal and would be like looking to rose-tinted glasses.

I donīt know why I get so terribly misunderstood in here by certain forumers. Things are crystal-clear.

Nigeria and especially a city like Abuja could and SHOULD build better malls and entertainement complexes like this...

I thought it was just Nigerians that build all structures.

Cape Town is breathtakingly beautiful and offers so much for everybody, very appealing...Abuja is good as well but it is still horribly boring and as for the pics shown they donīt look that good, to be honest with you. This is no negative criticism.
That's a constructive criticism.

New Capitals are so boring. nothing more than Federal Buildings and some hotels.

You will never here an American saying , that I love to go to Washington DC. Because there is nothing special to do in the city.

Here's my honest opinion. Abuja has very good infrastructure and roads, BUT it lacks soul. It looks like a really bleak and dull city. It's "skyline" looks too forced..

PS: Why was the Cape Town thread closed??

Yea, like Kinshasa; boring, drab and dirty

Ok this is my first comment maybe last.
I think Abuja is very clean and well planned which makes it way above most African capital cities. What is lacking in this city is an organic fluid feel and atmosphere. From the pictures I have seen I could not find some sense of life in the city and I could not find anything special accept that its a purpose built capital which is often rare.

Not all capitals are boring, I personally prefer Pretoria over Johannesburg in terms of entertainment. Pretoria is buzzing with students from UNISA, UP, TUT and other colleges and its my best city inland and it never disappoint in entertainment.

Im not comparing between cities but Im trying to say Abuja could add more so to have an urban lifestyle and attract more energy to the city.

Wait since when is Washington D.C considered boring? Their is a ton of stuff to do there, it's actually rated as one of the best places in America for young people to live in.

What's wrong with Abuja ? I like it very much and it should never be compared to London, Dubai or other point-focused cities since it's built as a well planned, low-density city which can be grouped together with Canberra, Astana, Brasillia etc.

Thats the thing though, anyone can build a city but you just cant create a vibrant atmosphere which is a natural progression. Abuka was a political stunt to appease the Northerners. If this money had been spent on improving Lagos it would have been much better. Im just not a fan of new planned places- im from a new town in Scotland and its the laughing stock of the UK- it was built and desgned from scratch after the war- very soulless.

a step in the right direction. the"soul" will catch up eventually (if ppl think there is none)
there is infastructure, its clean and it seems to be properly planned and managed.

My point is that NO country just uses its internal resources to build landmarks and if what you are saying is the case then NONE of the worlds nations can take credit for landmarks and other noteworthy things built in that particular country.

(But don't get me wrong, you definitely have a point and yes, the people who designed Abuja should be given their fair share of credit but the nation is always given the majority of the credit in this situation.)
I AGREE and Abuja looks first world and really nice.
