Not sure whether this info has been posted before.

Mahendra R&D has started its operations in Mahendra City. Whole of Mahendra's global R&D(from various parts of India) is being shifted to Mahendra City. The facility is being developed at 125 acres. My friend who is working there says construction of various research units are going on. They are yet to use the full land. Currently 600 employees are there. Tractor, automotive R&D operations has already commenced.

Wipro campus is ready which can accomodate 2500 people approx. Another 2500 seats are getting ready. They may start this campus by or before March 2011

There are residential villas promoted by Mahindra lifespace, which are costly. They are typically for Manegement category. Others have to commute from the city

Its not at all a good idea to commute daily from st.thomas mount to MWC by two/four wheeler. The travelling time depends on traffic on GST road between st.thomas mount and guduvancheri stretch. beyond that the traffic wont be slowing u much. assuming that u have less traffic, it will take you 35-40 mins if u travel at an avg speed of 60 kmph. But if traffic piles up(it does usually near airport, pallavaram, chrompet, tambaram, perungalathur, zoo, guduvancheri), it will take you even 1.5-2 hrs.. and its not a safe road too cuz everyone tries to fly literally and jaywalking and cattle crossing are part of the life in this road. consider fuel cost and ur vehicle mileage and pollution by ur vehicle, i would not prefer(but thats my pt of view)

you can consider train as an alternative but the issue is that the frequency of trains beyond tambaram is limited and generally one every 40 mins during non-peak hours. during peak hours the frequency is just ok. best suggestion is to live at tambaram/perungalathur/guduvancheri/mm nagar/chengalpattu and travel by ur own vehicle or public transport..

There are apartments too in the same complex ( Sylvan County). They have second phase coming Lakeview or something.

Many working there take local train to MWC. There are many apt complexes near MWC also.

Thankyou for your response & suggestion.
But now company says that they will give transport for commutation daily. So my friend want to shift to Chennai at any cost & have own house at Adambakkam. Feels better than Bangalore.
In that case I think it would be Ok. Little struggle on week days & no travelling on Weekends.

There are residential colonies in MCity. Sylvan conty is one such colony inside mcity which has been fully occupied. Aquality and IrisCourt are other colonies inside mcity. Iris Court is the new project whose construction has just begun close to paranur railway station. Booking are open for IrisCourt, with prices starting from 29lakhs.

Daily commutation is not at all possible in two wheeler from st. Thomas mount. From Tambaram to Mcity entrance, the distance is 26 kms which you can cover in 30 mins with an avg speed of 60kms/hr. But many ppl travel to mcity daily in car from all parts of city(my friends travel from annanagar, villivakam to mcity daily)

If company provides a car with fuel charge then it should be absolutely fine..

Mahendra city provides shuttle services from paranur station for public-free of cost, at regular intervals(every 20 minutes) from morning 7.20 AM
